i know that elkas are way better but would the works triple rate with rezzies even compare with the elka rec series? im on a budget and was wondering if its worth it to get the elkas over the works? i want something that will hold up on almost anything and can be adjusted if need be. if anyone has any pics with either of these on their quad it would be nice to see what they look like to.

I would suggest the Elka recreational series. The non reservoir shocks are pretty good and you can get them for under $500. Also if you decide later down the road you can upgrade them and have the remote ressie added. Also with Elka, you get really quick turn around time. No waiting for months to get your shocks.

Here is a photo of my 400ex with Work's Pro Series. They are okay but if I could do it all over again, I would buy Elka's.

I have had a few sets of works in the past. From steelers to proseries to black widows. I have been happy with them. The Elkas are good & so are Tcs. Triple rate vs triple rate if they are setup correctly you will be happy & much better off than stock.

I just sold my new works shocks for another brand - the main diff. is that works aren't a "zps" style so the preload keeps your ride ht. up like stockers do - where the elka's "squat" your bike down for a lower ride ht. thus lower center of gravity for rippin' up the corners -I think works can make they're shocks a "zps" style now - I was quoted under $200 - but it was cheaper to sell them and get another -

I've had both...i had those same works on my 400ex, and am runnin elkas now on my 450. i really think elkas are worth it. imo i think the works are overpriced for how they perform.

works arent "bad" but they only get the job done in my opinion o works shock wil get the job doen and improve handleing but the elka shock much like the axis shock goes above and beyond i love my elkas and in my experience with works rather than haveing the shock in stock they have to build it and that takes months its annoying elka gets them right out what a concept... in stock

I just bought some 450r shocks from ebay for my 400ex and sent them into GT Thunder had them valved and sprung. I'm in the tuning process now and am really happy with the feel. I have ridden alot of bikes with Works and these are way better!!! 1/2 the price of Elka and I dont feel they are only 1/2 as good. Really Happy!!

Do you have any pics of that GT Thunder set up on your 400ex? Did you have the rear shock redone at the same time?

I liked the way they looked backwards.

those turned out looking good. IMO the rezzies look better on the original side too. I may consider this setup.
