why do you want an aftermarket one?

the stock airboxes offer the most hp and are actually tuned at the factory to do so.

i got one off ebay for like $40 when i broke mine.

i think they are way cheaper than aftermarket if you would buy one new at the honda shop.

i know service honda sells the stock lid for $7. so, i'm guessing the box would be cheap as well.

Prolly way to late....but for future reference, the cfm is a great box. The one I have replaces the stock plastic intake plenum and all and drastically improved flow. Its cheaper than the um and others and fit, performs, and looks great!

I don't have any good close up pics of mine, but I can take some. In the mean time, search "450R Cfm" on ebay. It has the exact one that I have on there and even shows it on a quad in a few different angles. I'll post pics soon.

did the air box give u more power,or better throttle response when u installed it?.....

IMO its a complete waste of money.
plus, an aluminum box is easier to damage.
can you imagine a stick being kicked up from the rear wheels?
plastic can take more abuse.

again, JMO. Not trying to bash anyone.

I did notice a small difference in performance at low end and slightly better throttle response but nothin crazy. I need to re-jet it though because its starvin for fuel. I put the lid on and that helped, but it def. flows more air. Some people like the aluminum boxes, some don't. A couple of my buddies that have them have put them trough hell and they are completely undamaged except a couple scratches. I know that they feel a lot more sturdy than the stocker, aluminum is alot harder material than the plastic they use from the factory. Plus I think they look alot better, just personal preference.

you make some good points.
but, the exposed area over the swingarm scares me.
i can just see a big stick or rock being kicked up and damage occuring. Plastic is more forgiving.

anyway, I think they do look sweet.
