WANTED a trx250r project - can trade or buy

Im looking for a 250r project.

It must:

-be a honda, not suzuki
-not be somewhere unreasonable like oregon or CA
-be reasonably priced

I would like a roller, or a complete one thats needs torn down and redone.

I have a 2003 440ex motor/gt thunder pipe to trade, or i can pay cash if the price is right.

I have a 86 250r that is partailly tore down already. It just needs a left side engine case and piston and rings. I can send you a pic of when it was togeather if you want, I was thinking 2200 or so.

maybe....any aftermarket? .....2200 is high though for a non-running bike....for 2200 on ebay i can get one that already done.

lol....are you serious....you obviously havn't looked very hard....theres plenty to be had as long as you're willing to travel across a state or two.....the best deal i've seen in a while was a completely rebuilt 1988 with a durablue axle, lonestar plus 2 a-arms and elka rec series shocks in good shape....went for $1824, you just have to watch

I guarntee that an 88 did not sell for 1800! It may have ended with that price, but I would bet my sack that nobody really got it! If you get my drift.

i have a 250r it ran when i got it but i had it tore down to rebuild but like alot of them project it never got done but i would like to sellit for 1300.00 and it is complete iam in il let me know the quad is in good shape over all thanks

86rryder-i garuntee to you that it sold...the reserve was met and everything, but i do understand what you mean by it "didn't sell".....i wouldn't be happy either if mine sold for only that much

I saw 2 locally sell for under $2,000 - an 86 sold for $1,600 and an 87 sold for $1,800. These were "asking" prices in the local auto swapper and they both sold quick. They're out there, you just need to jump on them quick.

Here's a nice one in IN with new frame and almost all aftermarket

Based upon these 2 nice quad being available for under $3,000, I'd say it's pretty safe to assume you can buy a Honda 250R for around $2,000. Yes it would probably need a little work, but it may be worth it.

Yes, I agree, you can find one that needs work for 2000-3000. but a nice 88 model for 1800? That was a steal! Like I said, nobodys got that bike, but the dude that listed it!

i bought an 89 localy for $500 but needed a frame piston kit and some other little stuff, just keep ure eyes open nd u will find them that cheap

All I can say is you get what you pay for!

I bought an 89 for $2100 but it ended up needing about $2000 in work.

You can find them cheap but by the time you are done you will likely have more into it than paying $3200-3500 for one already done.

Anyway Aaron does it matter what year, and does it need to be redone? Because I know where you can get an 86 that needs plastic and tires and odds and ends for $1500, new powdercoat on everything.

This to me means one that's already restored. "Already done". There were no 250r's that are already restored for 2200 when you posted.
