You either have to make a spacer or buy a cable from Baldwin Motorsports. It's like $29.00 + shipping.

My buddy bought one also and it didnt work. We had to make a spacer out of real stiff rubber hose. Hope this helps.

Asv's website says to use a standard perch. I got the hot start model for Christmas, and exhanged it, for the normal one. I then put about $35 in my pocket.

i have an asv perch and had no problems. the only thing i can tell you is that you need a specific cable to make it work. baldwin makes one, i am not sure who else, but basically there is an adjustable piece in the cable that allows you to adjust the slack out of the cable. there maybe other ways to do it but i believe you need that cable to make any of the aftermarket perches work. there is no adjustable piece in the stock cable because with the stock perch the adjustment is at the lever. probably doesn't help you immediately but that's why the stock cable doesn't fit great with aftermarket perches.

it doesn't work becuase it was designed for a CRF dirt bike not a TRX quad they have different cables. It works perfectly on the motorcycle. Easiest thing to do is call baldwin and order a cable from him.

yes it works just fine.
the oem crf cable has an adjuster, i just turned it out, and the "spacer is a threaded adjuster from a clutch purch. yes you can order a cable from baldwin, and then you dont have to use the spacer, but it is $30.00, and a oem honda cable is $12.00.

you only need it if you have a kick start on your yfz.
you should be able to use yz450f parts

I had a hot star on my yfz and it wasnt kick start. it was just to make starting better when needed
