I really did not like the fact that when I looked at the quad I saw Darrens old quad. so the build starts, but what do you do when you have bought a bike this nice. I piced up this swing arm to match the a arms. It should be black by tomorow.

Bad news for my build. Crank is done. Took the motor apart today to check and well looks like more money flying out of my bank faster than I can make it.

01-29-2006, 02:08 PM
Clutt man that sucks what part of the crank is bad. and how much is a new one i might put one in just for the hell of it. to clear my mind of anything. what are you going to do to your motor while its out of the frame? perfotmance wise?

clutt225
01-29-2006, 02:55 PM
Still up in the air. I just tore it down sat. to check. you should check yours out to. here are the pics of what to look for.

clutt225
01-29-2006, 02:58 PM
this is what destoyed Ernie's motor and 2 of his friends motors.
the piston will start to rock and eventualy let go.

clutt225
01-29-2006, 03:04 PM
the thrust washers at the crank also have way to much play.
I am looking into a falicon crank but not sure. Cameron's is checking to see if honda has changed the replacement crank or if it is the same chit. the honda crank is 400cnd the falicon's start at 499us for rebuild with knife rod, or almost a grand for thier stroker.

400exBro
01-29-2006, 05:03 PM
Man that sucks!!!

I am tearing into my motor this week, hoping i don't need a crank or i will have delay a lot of things!!!!

Good luck on the rest of the rebuild

hey jeramy that sucks but not much u can do about it eny ways to make my bike faster me and my dad are looking into making a hybrid with a crf450 motor talk to ya later

01-30-2006, 06:19 PM
yea man i think i am going to change mine anyways . i wouldnt get a falicon unless you are going to go for there screamer or crazy big bore kits. i just dont see the whole point in getting the same crank for almost double the money by the time you get it home.

hey Mike i was going to do that to my ex and we did a price comp from that to the new 450r they they are about 300$ apart.
if i were you i would wait till next year and buy a 450. IMO but if not that is a good way to get your ex to rip. If you need any help on knowing what you need call me and i will tell you all the little **** you have to buy.

My bike is almost done boys we will have to get out soon and go riding wereever there is no snow.

Ryan, Ya i posted this before i talked to you.
Either leave thrusday evening and drive striaght there, or leave thrusday morning, because pratice is on friday and you don't want to miss that.

I got my head off tonight, looks like my jetting was pretty damn close, the valves and spark plug had a nice tanish colour to them. I am going to leave the cylinder in till i get my piston

ryan ya i think i am just sticken to the 440 untill next year so i can buy a 450r cuz i have the shocks and 450r slip on but ya we have to go rippen some time u got my # so gimme a call when ever u wanna go rippen c ya

02-12-2006, 08:25 AM
well my stem is in but I am not going to start reasembly until the motor is back together. The crank is being rebuilt by falicon using thier Knife rod. They call it the super crank it will still be a stock bore and stock stroke but much stronger.

clutt225
02-12-2006, 08:40 AM
I know that any of you that maybe following my build already know the parts but until I get my crank back I have nothing better to do than post.

jer i think that it will look good i like the crome stem with the frame colour it looks good

02-14-2006, 08:17 AM
come on clutt
you dont need to start bad mouthing people on here. and you didnt need to change the carrier swingarm stem and cylender. that is all personal preffrence right. Darren is a smart guy about 2 strokes. this is his first 4 stroke that he rebuilt. In his mind the thing was fresh. So he didnt sell it too you cause he knew it was going to blow. I can understand that you are mad cause of what you have to do. But i have a 05 with all the same problems. that bike was hardly ridin so i think you didnt get ripped off you just had back luck with this one.

Nice bike though did you go with the +1 or +2 on the stem.

clutt225
02-14-2006, 04:23 PM
Stop by and I will show you the swing arm and the carrier. Well I am at it I will show you the stem that he hacked in two and welded back together without making sure it was straight.
The stock wrist pin that he pulled out has the same scaring that as the new one. He didn't flush all the plastic out of the motor when he screwed up the cam chain. Anyone who has built engines two or four stroke knows what to look for. Everyone that I told that I bought this quad asked me what I was going to do with the motor. That was one of the reasons I tore it down in the first place.
So maybe he didn't now about all of this, If not I guess I am sorry.
If he did well I am sorry I bought his BS.

clutt225
02-14-2006, 04:46 PM
here is the dent in the swing arm. This dent is deep enough that I think I will have to cut the swing arm to get the carrier out.
Yes I should have noticed the dent before I bought it.

clutt225
02-14-2006, 04:47 PM
Good luck geting these babies out of the carrier

clutt225
02-14-2006, 04:49 PM
Here is the old piston taken out by him with the one he put in the bike. The wear would have been on the con rod at this point given the wear on the wrist pin.

clutt225
02-14-2006, 04:51 PM
here is the stem. pm me if you would like to buy this custom +2 stem.

clutt225
02-14-2006, 04:53 PM
Roo you are absolutly right I will change my sig. And leave it at this. Buyer beware a bike that looks mint may not be so mint.
And the new stem is a burgard +2 he did nail the ergonomics.

02-15-2006, 12:15 PM
hey jer i am not trying to cause any fights or anything. i wasnt aware of what the stem carrier and swinger looked like, sorry. I still think that you got a pretty good deal for what is on the bike. anyways enough of that.

Did you get a set of those flexx bars. When do you plan to get you bike all back together? when you do we should go riding somewere. i am thinking about going to states here at the end of march to get some practice in. I want other people to come there too.

clutt225
02-15-2006, 04:10 PM
Def can not afford to go to the states now. But you are right the bike will be sweet when its done. I sold the ex for five and had five more to spend, paid nine for the 450. So I am a litle or alot over budget right now. I will get over it. The flexx bars will have to wait for next season. Have you tried yours yet, are they worth it?

400exBro
02-15-2006, 06:35 PM
Damn man sorry to hear all that bad news.

I took my cylinder off but piston is still in, but the piston is not as carbon built/black as your.
My head is done from porting, it only took about a week. and it was a really good price considering he also put new valve seals and springs in!!!

Ryan, are you still going to Macon Ga??

I have a feeling that we might be, my dad has been talking about it a bit more (probably wants to try the zuk 450:eek:) but i am not sure if i will get my 450 running properly by then. That gnc is only a few weeks away, and my piston and everything else is on its way so i hope to see it by the end of this month.

Are you going to be sleeping at a hotel or camp at the race track?

02-16-2006, 04:52 PM
hey jer yea i have treid my new bars they are pretty good i guess i dont notice stuff like that. Hopefully it makes me go faster that is what i bought them for. Well not so much faster but longer i guess is what they are suppost to do.

Timo i am not sure i will have to ask my Dad and see what he says and im not sure now if i will have my bike all ready to go. I might go to a indoor track somewere over by magic im not sure where it is but i am thinking about going there half the drive and twice the ride. Not sure yet. PM me your number if you dont mind and i will call you sometime and we can talk about it.

clutt225
02-17-2006, 07:59 PM
LDR is not for sure yet. I will be doing the tt races and some cmx, Maybe a few cmrc but not for sure.
The cap came to $57 with tax and the red looks great. Very close to elka red. I have your recipt.

clutt225
02-18-2006, 08:52 AM
We are still trying to decide wich one to go with. They will likely be ordered when I order my carrier. saves on shiping.

02-20-2006, 01:22 PM
i think that we should all get together and decide on one or another series to run cause if LDR CMA CMX and CMRC are all going to have quad races than CMA CMX and LDR are all going to be running against eachother you know what i mean. The real compitition is at CMRC you can win all the other pro classes in the other series and have a hard time coming top 5 in the intermediate class at CMRC. I personally am running CMRC and CMX i wish to see more people to come to CMX. The tracks thre are great and fast too. Also i think we should not run LDR cause the days are really long and the tracks are not that wide for us to be out there. If everyone kinda slpits up and goes to difernt races than none of them are going to go anywere i just dont like going to a race and being the only pro that shows up and has to run with the Jr. class.

Quad18star
02-20-2006, 02:27 PM
Can someone explain to me this LRD stuff?? I've never heard of it ... who puts it on and whats it all about ???

clutt225
02-20-2006, 05:14 PM
lakeshore dirt riders is a local motocross club 18 local tracks to the oshawa to bellville area. they used to have a quad class years ago but lost it do to lack of intersest. now there is an interest but some of the bike guys don't want them to reinstate the quad class. We were told by there president that if we show with 10 quads he will run us. the bike guys are going to protest if we do show.

clutt225
02-20-2006, 05:18 PM
I agree Ryan but cmrc is to much travel I will run cmx and the tt series. ldr maybe for fill in if it dose hapen. there tracks are def bike tracks. the cmx track that I watched looked good I will try to be there but I don't think I will be much comp for you.

Quad18star
02-20-2006, 05:44 PM
From what I read on the CMX site , last year they ran the quads on saturdays and the bikes on sundays ... correct?? I'd much preffer this format as compared to riding with the dirt bikes in the same day . To anyone that ran last year , how was their format ... work out well?

clutt225
02-20-2006, 05:57 PM
I didn't run it but I did hear that they want to run like that if the quad turn out is large enough. The one that I watch was quads and bikes on sun

Dubzy14
02-20-2006, 07:39 PM
yea the quads run with support bikes at cmx...im doing cmx for sure and cma for sure also..i havent decided on to much cmrc yet..maybe a few

02-20-2006, 08:26 PM
i ran the CMX full series last year and at the start they were running us on the saturday and it was great casue than we can make all of the CMRC and CMA races, none of them conflicted. they stoped doing it cause they didnt have enough quads to run in one day. the Jr. class and Int. class was good amount of people but the Pro's had about 4 or 5 tops. the pros who showed up were Mat Bos, Ernie Austin, Chuck Graham, Kent Shantz, Me Ryan Rusaw and that is about it. not very good for a quad class number wise.

Quad18star
02-20-2006, 09:14 PM
Is Ernie Austin still racing?? Still riding the aftermarket 250R?? Its been a while since I've seen or heard about him .

CMRC has a few saturday events like they did last year.
Gopher, walton and Auburn have the 2 day event again.
Gopher usually will run all the regual quad classes on saturday and then sunday there will be a Pro-am moto.

I will probably be racing both this year at gopher, plus i want to race the Pro am 450 class and the intermediate class for the nationals

Should be a fun year

Hey Jer, just gettin back onto this exriders stuff, just lettin yah know the quad looks like its comin together nicely. FYI i'm runnin cmx fully, and cma prolly, as much as its kinda beat with the lack of action on tracks like shannonville etc. uhhh cmrc i might go to a few nationals or something, otherwise ei dont have the money to be travelling all over which is too bad, i liked cmrc and the turnouts they had at mostly every one of their races. Anyways, it's april 9th and a week from now i should have all the pieces of my quad and put them al back togetehr, hopefully all of us guys can get out somewhere and ride, lookin forward to a good 06' season guys!
