The guy i bought my 86 2 fiffty from put a new pipe( fmf mid -topend)and said he did not rejet it ,,i'm at sea level, rest is stock .
What should i check to see if it's right.Note it's boging at wide open.

bogging at wide open is indication of a rich main jet. What size are you. With 250 to a 265 you should sit anywhere from 165 to 180, on the main and between 48 and 60 on the pilot jet. Some prefer the CEL needle or the cej needle in the airstrykers.
These are some good baseline numbers for the 250 to 265 guys. Just from my recent experience with my 20 over 39mm pwk I sit 60 pilot 168 main cel needle overall good could be better. Hope this helps. In my case I will probably drop the pilot soon to a 58 0r a 55. And raise till it bogs on top with the main and then back off a size on the main

Ok,,,,,, are the jet's marked and if i pull'em to see will i need a carb kit (new gaskets) to put it back together.I'm not fouling plugs,it all most feels like a rev limiter,,this mite be normal:confused:

if you have a keihin you wont need new gaskets. They have orings be careful and youll be fine the jets are marked. Its really not that hard just pull it off unscrew the main and put the next size smaller in. The pilot you take out with a small flat head it has a bunch of small holes in it to emulsify the fuel.

my clymer book says the stock carb came with a 150 main and a 48 piolt so if thats rite then what???Doz the jet have the size stamped on it.Also i take it (man this sounds dumb but anywho) a the larger the # the biger the jet=RICHER

Ok i think i have a 150 main so i can't be rich (FMF pipe stock carb =lean.)

Think i'm just running out the motor & carb ,,thing pulls hard but if you stay in the powerband too long in the same gear it peak's out and i think that is what going on.
