i was thinking about gowing down a tooth on my front sprocket. i know this takes away from your top end but is it that big differene? Should i leave the rear the same if iget a 14 tooth? Also the '05s are geared lower as it is should i just not waste my time with gearing?

thje 05 gearing is not lower, but different. yes it only has a 14t on the front but the internal ratios have been changed as well. top speed is actually slightly higher on the 05's many people go down on the front for trail riding so it would be a good idea if it fits you. i personally ride trails and have stock gearing or occasionally i run a 16t on the front. just how i like to run, using 2 gear alot instead of 3rd.

where di you get a 16t sprocket? i was thinking aboutgeting both a 14 and a 16 and changing them depending on where i ride

moose, and renthal both make them. for the 05 models it came stock with a 14, so you would need to go down to a 13 or up to a 15. i use stock gearing or 15/39 for motocross, and either stock or 16/38 for trails. depends on where i ride.

my buddy put a 14 on and it really increased the lower end response if that makes sense. you may loose 3 mph, but you will mostly ride much slower than that anyway.

I agree. Countershaft sprocket are pretty cheap so it makes sense to have a couple of different ones.
