But everybody has ipods....and all the reviews said these sounded better too. Also, it was 245, but i got the 1 year warrenty, so it came out to be 290 with shipping. The cheapest i found an ipod video was 299 without the warrenty...

...and everyone has an Ipod for a reason. They are the best on the market. We own an Ipod and I have used other MP3 players - the Ipod is superior in just about every area.

Your biggest factor of how good your songs sound is the quality of the MP3 file itself - NOT the player. Most kids use the popular 128kbps...using this quality is the "bottleneck". When you start using 160 and 192 the quality gets pretty damn good!

I wouldnt say everyone had ipods cause their the best. The ipod minis and nanos are garbage. i see em break constantly. They arent designed too well and they sell so many because its more of a fad then anything. Its the cool thing to have. When i first took a mini apart i was shocked at how poorly it was designed and right away it explained why they break so often. Nanos are just too sensative. 4 friends have them and 2 are broken already from christmas time. They allso scratch very easily.

well, I can only speak for the full sized Ipods.

The MP3 player he is looking for is more along the size of a standard Ipod...so lets keep it apples and oranges.

Instead of dropping 300 on a nano, buy one of these bad boys on eBay for $90...

i dunno why it is so diff. If the design on the one was poorly done i wouldnt be to fond of another one they built. Either way i still dont believe IPOD is the best. The battery's for example on the ipods are way expensive and do not have very good lifetime. After a year or so it will need to be replaced and u can either pay big money or do it yourself and ruin your warranty.

Im just not a fan. I like rio however on the other side. But personaly i own a Sony PSP with 1 gig memory cause this way i can listen to my favorite music, not my whole library. I can play my videogames, watch a movie, surf the net and do much more with the ability to run homebrew. but thats another story.

To each their own:)
