i dont think the 450s are gonna go any further past efi in the future

but i see big things coming for entry level - mid level 250 4 strokes soon

i hope companies start picking up and making watercooled 4 valve dohc motors in worthy chassis's, much like a mini yfz or a new trx250

you know, race worthy entry level quads

Something about burning fossil fuel and no emissions doesnt make sense. I think we would have heard about this miracle "no emissions" engine before.

Rumor around here is that honda is gonna have a race quad that is like the 250 hybrids... something like a cr250f motor in a 400ex type frame, but thats just rumor

Well, all I know is that if Honda would have remade the 250r with the same looks, and frame, and everything just like it used to be. It would have been a huge seller. Too bad there no hope of that anymore.... I don't think theyll go above 450

Ripitupfilms

i was hoping theyd ge the hint about how such an old quad still does good to this day and remake the 250r . they should just make 250r's with 250f engines in them that be sick

wel the 450's are fast, but not really that much faster (and actualy slower in a drag ) to a 250f dirt bike so i wouldnt completely count out the idea of some bigger bore quads coming out

Yeah I agree with you. I've ridden my buddy's Husaberg 501 that'll tear your arms out of the sockets. I also rode my buddies new YZ250F one time and I was very impressed with the power of that motor for a 250. Very snappy throttle response on that bike

When is Honda going to build a quad to compete with the raptor and the two Polaris machines. Something with the 660 motor in it?

I think that we'll eventually get to see street legal quads that are setup with like 1300 cc crotch rocket motors in em. that'd be pretty saweet if i say so myself:eek2: .

if i can find it i have a news story on something for cars that eliminates emmisions, developed by a local guy. It was a great product but was not cost efficecnt to market to manufacturers.

01-20-2006, 01:03 PM
Incase u guys forgot, this is the last year for 2 strokes so i dont think they will bring back the 250r. :huh

Honda needs to do something with the 650 engine.

Rip_Tear

They can make 2 stroke emissions as low as 4 stroke emissions. Ski-doo has already done this with a few of their sled motors.

I doubt we see much "bigger" things from the companies, we don't really need bigger quads, only better. The bigger quads aren't even close to as nice or useable in the trails as the smaller ones...

Maybe they'll add towing hitches to the Raptor and DS 650...:blah:

I'd love it if they remade the 250r, but I doubt it will ever happen. With how they are, if they remade the 250r they put it in a 450r style chassis and put 450r plastics on it......... That way they could be cool like yamha....... I'm afraid that if they remade the 250 they would butcher it to bad.

Of course they would. Thats how honda makes all their sport quads now :ermm:

01-20-2006, 03:11 PM
from these idears, I thin the best one would be a entry level 250f.

A fourstroke liquid cooled dohc motor, in a somewhat rigid frame. Probly like the size of a blaster, or mabie if they pump power out of it make it full size like a 450r or yfz.

01-20-2006, 03:14 PM
i agree with the guy that said no bigger motors just stronger frames.... it would be nice if you could just put gas in it and race. no aftermarket suspension or a arms, no extended swingers etc(u know what im talkin bout if your a serious racer).... i think that yamaha and honda will be doin this soon seeing as the ltr450 will pretty much be race ready when it hits the floor.

thier not even close to being in the same class of a quad. the 450r is aimed at the yfz450, not the raptor. the closest bike to the raptor is probablly the predator.

I have been working in a honda dealership for 34 years and seen some really cool stuff honda built and never been released my parents are the oldest honda dealership in wisconsin and like i said before they have warehouses full of stuff you could never imagine. What i do beilieve is they will be making a new 250/300 sport quad or making some good changes soon,The 250r will never come back hate to disapoint you all but its nice dreaming.I personally would like to see the release of a 650 sport quad for the larger riders but have it detuned some I love the sport and been around threw it all i have the first five years of the three wheelers but there comes a time when power can hurt the sport.I know this will piss off a lot of people but when is enough enough.......................Chris

Honestly, I think that is probably going to be the next trend, high-performance entry-level quads. Lighter frames and engines, I'd like to see a 250cc 4-stroke just a hair above 300lbs, with full 16-inch shocks.

like wat 400exrules said, it will prob. be a big step. I hope honda come out with like a 550 or 600, it would be pretty nice, but who knows.

yeah there will not be any more cc for the 450 cuz of the 125 class and 250 class but i hear rummer that yamaha has a 250 4 valve liqed cooled in the near future i dont know to much about it the but i have heard this from multiple people

the big sprot quads are mainy in for drags and dunes and with the country making all thes gay laws of were you can ride ther want be a plce to open them up so i think honda will stick with there mx and xc and that suff just to play it safe

I don't think they will make a new quad for sometime. I think they will inhance the 450r to compeat with the new LTZ450s. As for the 300ex it would be sweet if they made that watercooled with a kick start in a 250r or 400ex frame for the 300cc under class though.

exactly what is was thinking.... i think this new suzuki will have a few problems off the bat but nothin major. yamaha and honda will most likely make there 450's efi for the 2007 models... or well honda wont do it for a few years seein as they wait so long:rolleyes:

I think they will enhace the 450rs maybe change to different suspenstion hopefully gullwing design or equivalent for use with longer shocks. I wouldnt be suprised to see a quad based on the xr650r engine in the future but I bet that it will not be there to outperfrom the 450 only match the Raptor in cc. I wont buy it because I think it will not be any faster than the 450r because they dont need another race machine. Honestly quads are already to fast so they are reaching a ceiling. What they need is better chassis design lighter w/ lower center of gravity wider like the ltr. And please bring out a 300cc two stroke to compete with gas gas, oh yes i did go there, hehehe. Honestly the state of atving will probably stay like it is for at least 5 years or more. Until the EPA starts to be jerks again and we have to move to more effecient models like fuel cell atv's or the possibility of no more atvs because of groups that are trying to ban atvs. Realistically I could see everything coming full circle and 450rs being like the 250rs.

Street legal v twin quads, it will happen in the next few years i bet. Then the hybrid craze will be 1000cc street bike motors in quad frames, spinners(hopefully not), lots of crome getting away from the black powder coat trend today, and rear diffs to get away from the solid axle.

your missing the point, the street legal quads are for a fuel effecient means of transportation. People will start conveting off road quads into street quads, they might make a cross over that could do some mild trail riding and still be street legal. But the gearing, transmission, exhuast, suspension would not be built to really handle the demands of an offroad quad.
