Ya, mostly. I usually crank on the choke all the way, get it started, and give it a little gas, till it starts to cut out, then go to half choke, and ride a little, going easy, then turn it off completely.

Went through the same thing I went to a 40 pilot jet and 3/4 turn out on the pilot screw over the 2 1/4 setting. what an improvement. starting full choke half throttle let go of throttle and start. Then after sitting 2hrs went out no choke just cranked over and now starts would never do that before jetting. they jet these things too lean. by hte way this is for a stock machine no mods if rejetted for mods go 10% over current pilot jet

They are really lean from Honda, plus the cold leans them out even more. Mine was even cutting out when it was below 20 out. You might pick up a jet from honda, and go up one jet size.
