what exactly is the purpose of the plastic chamber on the rubber boot b/w the airbox and carb? I heard somewhere that if I remove it, i will get better throttle response. is this true?

It is said to be for quieting the intake noise by using these for resenators. I am trying to do a test with the intake boot when I have my head ported. I'm gunna try the completely stock intake on a flow bench. Then I'm going to try the resenator off and use a plug to plug the hole, then put it on the flow bench. I have a feeling though that it's not about flowing a certain amount but maybe air on tap when you crack the throttle is what the box is for. Kind of like an expansion chamber.

There was a thread on this months ago. I believe it was by Chad502ex. He determined there was a drop in HP when the resinator was removed and plugged off. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Glad some one brought that up because I was fixing My air box and I was Like WTF is that thing for. it made no sense. On my 400ex I think the vent for the crank case goes there.

I've also heard it's for having air on tap for instant throttle response. You probably don't need it if you remove the airbox lid. The HRC kit comes with a replacement plug.

How many horse we talking about? I made a plug for mine and feel that it has better throttle response and more bottom end(seat of the pants feel). Im running the HRC lid.

the actual dyno is near the end of this thread, it shows alot less power at the bottom, but maybe the actual seat of the pants feel is better?
