hey sweet lou...i had the same problem...im in cold canada but i learned to start my quad fine in the cold cold weather (below - 20 celcius)...heres a hint...look in the owners manual at page 52 under starting and stopping the engine...it says "when air temperature is below -15 celcius (about 3 or 4 farenheit), push the throttle lever eight times to discharge fuel from the accelerator pump into the intake port". i push it 10-12 times with no choke..then put the choke on and starts just fine after one or two tries...
on page 94 now...its better to use 5W-30 for low temperature...mine is still on break in with original oil in it but still starts just fine...tell me how it works for you !
