hey Pappy, If I needed them, how fast could you get me some Burgard Ball joints and bushings.....I am doing a trade and I just was to be prepared for the worst.....

Let me know....

Pappy
01-18-2006, 12:30 PM
i go there twice a week usually

Chino886
01-18-2006, 01:23 PM
excellent, I am about to do a trade for some +3 Burgard's....I might be needing ball joints and bushings.....

Does Burgard stand behind his product? what are the warranties? I am in no way knocking his product, but I just want to know what I am getting myself into....

Do you know approx when the pipe is due to arrive?

Now I have a pipe and no A-arms......great....

Pappy
01-18-2006, 01:52 PM
haha..sounds like your rebuilding in reverse:p

Burgard has stood behind everything I have ever taken him...and he has even repaired other manufactures products for no charge to help people out. thats why i use him.

i can get what ever you need for the arms so no worries there.

Chino886
01-18-2006, 01:54 PM
awesome....I am getting them....that is one thing I was concerned about.....but you just fixed that.....

reverse....how about bass ackwards......good thing my head is attached.......

Chino886
01-26-2006, 07:41 AM
Hey Pappy, I might be hitting you up for a bushing and sleeve kit for a-arms.....soon....if you would not mind picking up a kit for me.

My arms are showing up on tuesday and I don't think the bushing and seals are in them....and I sent mine along with the arms....stupid me...I forgot to take them out.......After screwing with the tie rods for 30 mins taking the ends off......I was just too damn tired to think.....plus I had a dog that needed to get fed.

Pappy
01-26-2006, 07:45 AM
no prob, ill be making arun tomorrow to see burgard and i will grab a full set just incase you want them.

Chino886
01-26-2006, 07:47 AM
Sweet.....I should have pictures to post in your section by Friday of next week....by then I should have all parts and gear by then

I am riding regardless of rain sleet or snow.....

You ever make it out to the Midwest to ride....

Pappy
01-26-2006, 07:49 AM
good deal, be happy to see you back out and riding instead of wrenching and waiting on parts.

Chino886
02-05-2006, 08:36 PM
hey Pappy,

Not sure if you would do this or not, but the Burgard +3s that I got in a trade, the ball joints don't fit properly, they are in there, but can't get them out (lowers), I was going to send them to you for rePC in Sparkle red, the PC job is not that good.....and possibly some new BJs....Let me know if you would be willing to take this on, if not, I understand.

Chino

And how much to PC the 400EX oil tank?

Pappy
02-05-2006, 09:33 PM

I am looking to do the uppers and lowers different colors, maybe stealth black lowers and sparkle red uppers. I am sending you the tie rods because the previous powdercoater decided to PC them as well (while the nuts were on the tie rod, you will have to see it to appreciate it, how am I supposed to tighten those without messing up the PC ) . Would you suggest just a molycoat on the tie rods, it was a pretty sloppy job on the tie rods in my opinion.

They should be there Friday afternoon for you.

Pappy
02-07-2006, 01:32 PM
ill take a look at the tie rods when they arrive.

some tie rods have welded on nuts for adjusting the toe, but that doesnt sound like what your talking about:p

Chino886
02-07-2006, 01:34 PM
That would of been too easy....how hard is it to chip PC, I put chips in the PC with a wrench.....I thought it was more durable than that......

You should have a 400EX oil tank coming your way from Kristopher Matala, this is my oil tank, I would like it done in stealth black.

Pappy
02-07-2006, 01:40 PM
its usually pretty tuff and will not chip uless it is hit very very hard or is hit on a corner. even then it usually just indents.

ill keep a look out for the oil tank also

Chino886
02-07-2006, 01:44 PM
Yeah, I was not impressed with the work to say the least, or the ball joints for that matter.

I heard you have not been very busy, so I decided to send you some work.

Too bad you don't do shock disassembly, I was looking at my elka's and the anodized red does not go with the sparkle red too well, I was thinking of stealth black elkas........:D

Pappy
02-07-2006, 01:47 PM
lol..yeah im just waiting for work to come in here:D

the only thing i can do to the shocks besides the springs, are to have the shocks 100% disassembled then i can molycoat the body and head. then 100% reassembly etc. Derisi and C & D both can preform this if your due for a shock service.

Chino886
02-07-2006, 01:52 PM
I know Pappy, you are even too lazy to answer the phone, you made you wife answer the phone today when I called....ha ha! Just kidding, your wife sounds like a very nice person, just like yourself.

The shocks will have to wait till next year, they are still good on service. Colby will get the pleasure of disassembly.

I can't wait for you to see the PC, I think you will have a good time with that.

Pappy
02-07-2006, 02:59 PM
naaa i dont go nuts when i see a job gone wrong, it can happen to all of us. what i do chuckle about is when i get hubs in here to redo that a company coated and they coated everything....its kind of hard to get bearings in when that area is coated:p

Chino886
02-07-2006, 08:16 PM
Yep, that is why I keep sending stuff to you.....I know better now than to go anywhere else.

Could I get some Burgard stickers when you are done with the arms? Thanks.

Chino886
02-10-2006, 12:49 PM

It is funny, I have never noticed it but most of the quad riders I know take helmet and goggles off together....but bike riders take them off seperately......both work....

Saw a backflip in real life......friggin awesome!

Yeah, I agree, drinking lost its fun a while ago, plus it save a ton of money. I have had a 6-pack of beer in the fridge since New Year's Eve and there is still 6 in there.....:eek2: , Those puppies would not of made it till New Year's Day in Rico's fridge, hell, they might not of even made it to the fridge.

Pappy

Pappy
02-15-2006, 05:45 AM
I reassembled the arms last night, but im having trouble getting one of the jam nuts off one of the tie rods. i just need an extra set of hands but ill get her:macho

Chino886
02-15-2006, 05:46 AM
So are you able to screw in the ball joints with only your hands now?

Pappy
02-15-2006, 08:02 AM
yep, i tapped the threads to clean them up. these arsm have seen some use in wet conditions. the threads on the ball joints and on the tie rods show extreme pitting

Chino886
02-15-2006, 08:05 AM
They came from Olympia Washington...I am guessing it is a little more humid there....in your opinion, everything should last this season right (barring anything from breaking) , if not I will go ahead and replace them now....

Pappy
02-15-2006, 09:08 AM
yeah everything should be ok, i see use but no damage

Chino886
02-15-2006, 09:10 AM
awesome.....hopefully they will be delivered on Saturday......if not, no biggie....

what is pitting?

Pappy
02-15-2006, 09:13 AM
pitting is when rust starts t eat away in metal. usually it shows up as small pencil tip sized holes in the metal surface. on these parts, it has eaten away at the very edges of the threads

Chino886
02-15-2006, 09:17 AM
That WA rust sure is hungry....

Pappy
02-15-2006, 12:18 PM
ive given up on the tie rods, the threads on the one are past what i feel should be used or repaired. ill grab a new set at my cost for ya

Chino886
02-15-2006, 12:19 PM
let me know how much to send

Chino886
02-16-2006, 09:12 AM

Chino

Pappy
02-24-2006, 05:41 AM

Chino886
02-24-2006, 02:44 PM
I got a question for you Pappy,

If I set the a-arms up and they have negative caster, I know something is wrong, I called Burgard and they said the are supposed to be positive 2 degree caster......

What did I do wrong?

Pappy
02-24-2006, 02:46 PM
im deffinatley not the one to give you the best advice on setting up the front end etc.

id say double check everything, including where you took your measurements from etc. also make sure you have the upper arms on the correct side

Chino886
02-24-2006, 02:48 PM
How can you tell which side is the "right" side?

I just tried calling Burgard Cycles but they were not very much help

Pappy
02-24-2006, 02:51 PM
if you have your shocks installed, you should see the uppers very close if not touching the spring if they are mounted wrong. its easy enough to do, infact its pretty common.

Chino886
02-24-2006, 05:29 PM
Well, I looked at them again and I think I have +0 lower arms and +1 upper arms, they are mounted right, they would of touched the other way around. That would give the excess negative caster that I am getting.

What do you suggest?

Pappy
02-24-2006, 07:43 PM
do you have the lower ball joints all the way in?

Chino886
02-24-2006, 09:48 PM
Yup Pappy, the lower ball joints are all the way in.......

Pappy
02-25-2006, 06:51 AM
do you have the spindles on the right side:p

im just asking the obvious and going off past expierence with things ive seen people have problems with.

Chino886
02-25-2006, 08:28 AM
Yeah, I will try to get a picture of the a-arms for you later today so you can see what they look like.....

spindles are on the right side.....

Chino886
02-25-2006, 06:08 PM
Hey Pappy, here is what the arms look like....what do you think?

Chino886
02-25-2006, 06:08 PM
better picture

Pappy
02-25-2006, 07:48 PM
you have the upper arms mounted on the wrong sides....swap them and go riding:p

Chino886
02-25-2006, 09:53 PM
I think I tried that, they hit the shocks when I do that......

If that is it, I feel really stupid! :ermm:

Insanity18
02-25-2006, 10:03 PM
try switching the lowers, i dunno? are you going to ride at timberrun?

Lately I have been doing a lot of stupid things.....

Pappy
02-27-2006, 06:56 AM
i agree, you do nothing by doing it right 100% of the time. people ask me why i know so much, i tell them im writing a book based on the things ive screwed up, it is pretty easy to write and i add a chapter every day:D

Yeah, I learned 3 things from that lesson:

1. I like landing with all 4 rubber side down....

2. The shock is working properly....

3. Rezzie line mounting is important....

:D

Chino886
02-27-2006, 08:21 PM
Hey Pappy, does that oil tank need to be flushed out with oil prior to installation?

Pappy
02-27-2006, 08:40 PM
i would blow it out with air and then flush with water thouroughly. i do that before they leave but its always a good idea to make every effort to be tripple sure nothing is in there.

Chino886
02-27-2006, 08:47 PM

alot of teh clamps on the market can be used on both 7/8 & 1 inch tubing as they are supplied with a rubber bushing that is either used or not used dependant on the size
