On a stock 04/05 450R engine what are the advantages of running the FCR carb over the stock 450r carb. Does it increase power and/or less bogging. If so why? Besides answering because you have rode one somebody with knowledge please answer me with a educated answer.. please help, thanks

In a nut shell, seat of the pants feel it comes on stronger from the bottom. Feels like a couple more HP off the bottom. But th e Dynos really dont show any gains. If you are only drag racing, I would say its not for you. But if you do anything else, IMO its worth it.

High quality carb. It has an accelerator pump and flat slide for fast throttle response(for a carb anyway). Was originally designed for downdraft applications on sport bikes. But they wised up and almost all sport bikes are injected now.

  The flat side gives it more efficient flow through the carb over a round slide. The better fcr's it seems have the slide running slanted in the carb, I see better flow characteristics in those, keeping the momentum moving forward. I believe the pump is adjustable as well.

If you are going from the stock 42 down to a 39-41 fcr you will see an improvement in throttle response and bottom end but nothing more from the top end than what stock gave you. The carb is just more efficient and flows air better, but you will (most of the time) always see an improvement in bottom end/ throttle response with a smaller carb. And that's the idea PowerNow uses to sell there carb blade incerts.

What the fcr carb does is increase your rev limiter and its has a more crisp sound, it also revs faster so thats were people get the idea of the extra horsepower, its doesnt gain any horsepower just a better low end boost than the stock carb

I had no idea......

So if i just install the FCR, I will get a higher rev limit, more crisp sound and it will rev faster.....

So I don't need a new ignition, an exhaust or a lightened fly wheel after all.......

Damn, why don't I have an FCR already?

You cant get a higher rev limit with the fcr. Thats all in the ignition. Maybe it revs alot faster so it just feels like its revving higher

yes it does give it a higher rev limiter, dont believe me visit allterrainperformance.com ask them. They do pro production rider giovanni colons motor and a few others as well as mine.

walsh450r9 I think you may have been mislead:ermm:
think about it......What is the rev limiters funtion? How would a carb disable it or raise the limit? I am in no way trying to call you out or say I know any more than you, Only suggesting maybe you recieved false information or missinterpreted the information you recieved.

Thats what Im sayin. I thought the only way to raise the rev limit was through the cdi. Maybe you got the crf ignition with the carb.
