... this past weekend while riding, the engine shut off after making a horrible horrible noise in the bottom end (atleast thats what im guessin the location - it was hard to tell). sounds like someone dropped a bunch of tools on the ground.. all the clinging and clanging when i hit the START button. one of the guys there said maybe a rod went. he was gonna take the engine out this week and check it out for me to see what all happened (the guy knows his stuff). i'm thinkin this will be a good time to do a 440 kit. i THINK its a stage2 cam already installed. i will know by the weekend. i have the smaller edelbrock carb (not the eichner series). could u send me the websites where i can look at pricing on my best setup of stuff for the 440 kit. this way i can get a good feel this weekend when talking to the engine builder... and i wont sound like a complete jack@ss. also do u think i should ditch the edelbrock carb and use a 450r carb?? thanks for ur help. oh yeah and the rest of my mods are in my sig"
and as for the escalade rims... i take A LOT of $hit for having them on that truck LOL. i like them, i think it looks clean. i do a lot of highway driving... like every weekend from rhode island to pennsylvania... so low profile tires are out of the question. really beefy tires with offroad tread will ride like crap and wear like crap. i put about 900 miles on a week. i think most 16 and 17 inch aftermarket wheels look like crap (i.e american racing and stuff).
i got the caddy rims off ebay. brand new takeoffs (4)- 17" caddy escalade rims with brand new (4) goodyear tires for $450 shipped! cant beat that!

your transmission might have grenaded...there is no way the rod broke because if the rod snapped it would came thru the cases...
oh yea..i got 15x10s on my truck...i got them off ebay for 369.99 shipped brand new...then i bought a set of 31x10.50 tires for the truck...they get good highway mileage...road noise aint that bad, and the ride is good to be a full mt tire....here is a pic of my truck
