Ok, I had my mom pick me up some premix while I was in school today, and she came home with synthetic Amsoil saber professional with a "new smokeless formula". The thing that pisses me off is that it doesnt tell you how much oil to put in to make it 32:1. It just says how to make 50:1, and 100:1. Plus it cost 15 bucks! I was thinking about taking it back and just getting the Honda stuff.

I have never used the saber but have always used the Dominator mixed at 50:1 and had good luck.

Also $15 bucks is a lot for a qt. I only pay about $5. But I also buy it directly from Amsoil and by the gal.

Yea, I'm debating wether to run it or return it, and get some other kind of oil. I definetly don't want to run 50:1, that scares me a little. How many fluid ounces of oil would have to go into 5 gallons of gas to make it 32:1?

32:1 is 32 oz of gas to 1 oz oil

1 gal is 128oz so 5 gal is 640oz

640 divided by 32 = 20oz

or

for every gal you need 4oz of oil (128/32 = 4)
so for 5 gal you need 4oz x 5 gal or 20 oz.

or

you can pick up a ratio rite!!

What the oil was designed for is a better indicator of what you should mix it for. How the engine will be ran will have some impact but I am sure the oil manufactor has allowed for a lot of variance. Run it a 50:1! Besides that, Amsoil will warrant any oil related failures.

I don't know... 50:1 still scares me a little. I'll call up Mark Baldwin tomorrow and get his opinion.

I used dominator 50:1 never had a problem
I now run ELF sport competion (French oil) cuz I get real good deal on it 40:1

I use Saber professional 100:1 in my 1973 2hp johnson outboard for fishing and i must say It's the best oil around
simply smell Nothing at 100:1 and protect just like at 50:1
Expensive but Priceless when you are enjoying wildlife pure Air :D

Remember that each time you play with your fuel mixture you MUST re jet your carb

good luck

Don't be scared!!! Just think of it as orange juice concentrate. Its made to be run at that mixture ratio.

Well, whatever premix I decide to go with, ill do some plug checks to make sure its running good. Comming off a 4 stroke, its just some new stuff to lear. All I know is its fast, lol:devil:

Its synthetic you can run it 50:1....it won't hurt it...if you were running regular premix oil I wouldn't run it 50:1...but this stuff is synthetic........if your that worried about don't use it

We have used the amsoil for years and always mix it at 50:1. I really like how the amsoil dominator works.. When ever I have a customer that is oil fouling plugs with the right mixture of other oils I convince them to try the amsoil and they always have good results. Don't worry about the 50:1 thing heck they even make a 100:1 oil:eek2:

I already returned it and got Honda HP2 synthetic 32:1. It cost me about the same for 2 quarts of Honda as it did 2 quarts of Amsoil. I actually did look for the Amsoil dominator, but they didnt have any.

I always run 40:1, but largely because I'm just lazy. Gas comes in 5 gallon cans, oil comes in 16oz bottles. It's a perfect 40:1 ratio.

Yep I run Klotz Gold 40:1......all the time and never a problem

Yea, I looked at the amsoil bottle, and it said to measure out however many ounces. The Honda oil said pour the whole bottle into 4 gallons of gas, so it sounded good to me. I wanted to buy Klotz actually, but the local dealer only had yamalube, amsoil, and hp2, and I don't feel like ordering oil.

Lonestar, youve got a PM

32:1 = 4oz/gal or 20oz/5 gal

40:1 = 3.2oz/gal or 16oz/5 gal (this is one pint per 5 gallon can)

50:1 = 2.6oz/gal or 13oz/5 gal

Call us or PM me if you need other ratios. (800) 242-0489. We gladly give free tech support to anyone who needs it.

Most of our popular 2-stroke premixes are available in pints, quarts, and gallons. Pints are mainly for convenience (since it mixes so easily into a 5-gallon can) and gallons are more economical, of course. Your local dealer can order any size from us.

Would you recommend running a 50:1 mix if i'm running sunoco 110 octane, with a 265 motor with 200 lbs of compression?

First thing is to switch from Sunoco 110 to Klotz 113. But besides that you should probably run 40:1 because you're really pushing your engine. R50 would be a great product for this.

I'm running 40:1 with the R50. I just wanted to be sure I was running the best set up. I've been pondering trying some klotz 113. One of these days I'll try it. I use the 2-stroke klotz tranny fluid in my 250R. So pretty much, you guys are my main squeeze when it comes to oil. I've never had any problems. This summer i'll try out the 113, kinda hard when i live in michigan to do any riding in the winter.........

How often should I change my tranny fluid? Everyone says after every ride, is this true? If it is, is there anything else I can put in there so I wouldn't have to change it that often?

We appreciate it, thank you!

If you're racing it change it before every race. If you're just out in the woods, change it occasionally, but everytime might not be needed.
