yeah they are very reliable. My uncle put a 440 big bore kit in his in 2000 or 2001(cant remeber), but that thing still runs strong and he even ice raced it in the winter one year. Other wise he rides it quite a bit on the weekend and he has never done anything to it. Just changes oil alot and cleans it.

they are pretty reliable but all they are is pretty much gas hogs
u can get a 426 which is extremely relieable to walk all over a 440 if its done right
and the 426 is about 10 times more reliable

Gas Hog? You must of been running super rich. With the jetting dialed in you don't have that problem

my quad sucks that gas doun it is a 416... dono if it is rich, carb was jetted by c@d ( fcr). think it has a 175 main. but man does it like to suck that c12 doun. also may me riding type. I am always punching it and romping on it.

i run c12 in my 440 and haven't had to put any in for three or four rides. i run the edlebrock carb. my 440 is reliable, raced it all seasonand it still runs fine.

If Im riding at the Sand dunes where there is alot of steep climbs and deep sand I can go about 3-4 hours .

Ive done 4 races and two play days and only had to fill once . I guess it depends on jetting and how long your races . I noticed since we changed the Carb on my Daughters Stroked mini, hers does VERY well on fuel now compared to before . Im not sure why, all I know was one was a Keiehn and the other was a Mukuni

with my bored&stroked 440 its just a little bit worse than a stock 400ex. I have a FCR39 and its jetted slightly on the rich side but pretty much dead on and its nothing for me to get 5-6 hours of hard riding time. mind you with all the torque that it has i more shift up a gear and punch it.
