is it true that a stock 250r is only as fast as a 400ex?? if not, how about a z400??

You have to remember, it's 20 years old. It was never designed to be "race-ready" in stock form, especially with the stock pipe.

The real beauty in 2-strokes is in the potential of the motor. But there are many different methods and directions to take that potential. In order for the motor to have the potential to be either a top-end screamer, or a low-end stump-puller, the porting has to start off really generic.

Yes, in stock form, the 250r really isn't much faster than a 400EX. If you're using the stock pipe, it's actually slower than a stock 400EX. BUt that's because the 250r was designed to be ported to extract the full power from the motor.

I think a stock will still beat a 400 in a race!!! 250R's r made RACE READY!!! Its a 250R!!!!
