i have a 2002 400ex and i have a white brothers pipe, air filter, and rejetted the carb. i want something else on my quad to make it faster and more powerful, but at the same time something that wont make my engine high maintence.

lol both of those mods will take away top end, you will definetly benifit from a stage 2 or 3 hotcam though, an oversize header if you dont have one already and maybe even a lil porting

The stage I cam is a mid-top cam on the 400ex, just less bottom end loss...

From Hotcams website......

Stage 1 Cam

Excellent midrange and top end power increase. Not recommended for big bore applications over 426cc. Does not use decompression mechanism. Uses stock valve springs and rockers.

For only pipe and filter...I would use the Stage I, but that is just my opinion.....

oh. sorry i must have confused it with a stage one for another bike :confused: i know that they make some stage ones for bottom end and less torque

no, everyone says that the 400EX Stage I Hotcam is a bottom end cam, but it is not...it just does not have the loss in the bottom end that the Old Stage II does......

this is the reply i got from hotcams awhile back

stage 1 is a mid-top end gain but more biased to the mid-range

stage 2 cam is mid-top end cam as well but more biased towards the top-end

they say more biased because compared to stock it increases both just its going to increase more on either side depending on stage

no matter what a cam is going to help millions even the HRC cam

ive got a stock engine size and a stage 2 cam with a big gun rev box and k&n and my bike blows away my friends man stage 2 is good top end its hauls!!

if you want more power buy a 450r or better yet a DS650.....that'll tear ur balls off!
