what do you think, I have been trying to get my yfz ready for the MHCS. And I have read some good and bad about this. Has anyone had any experience with racing XC with the cam mod. Im thinking its worth a shot and if I dont like it I will change it back.
Right now I working on getting the thumb throttle softer with a spring I bought on ebay and then maybe a honda lever.
thanks

I ran the entire OCCRA series last year and I have the cam mod. I love it. As for the thumb lever, make sure it is the honda 90 model.:D :D

I had heard that the 90 lever had better leverage. I think its longer.

For the cam mod it depends on what kind of rider you are. I personally won't do it because it hinders the kick starts us XC racers need. Also I've heard of easier stalling. If you're willing to give up a bit on the start for a little more response then go for it.

The 90 lever can actually be more harm than good also. It is about 1/2" longer resulting in more leverage and less resistance for pushing. The downside is that you have more thumb travel to get the throttle to full stop. The added throw length can also cause fatigue much like the extra spring strength. Part of the lever not working is also mental. Your thumb and mind will naturally find the most comfortable spot to apply pressure to the throttle. This is often right back at the length of the lever for the 400ex's. You might not find that true but I did. The 90 lever hindered me more than helped. With a rebent spring and honda throttle the tension on the carb is much more pleasent to me.:D
