300EX making a weird sound when pushing starter

Just wondering what it is. makes a winding sound. really loud. think it is the starter but now sure. If not what do you think it is?

Oh yea it moves when you push the starter to(while making loud winding sound)

maybe your starter gear on the back of your rotor is broke?bearing?does it turn over the engine?:confused:

My quad does it and everyone tells me it is my starter clutch.

No it dosn't turn over at all. Just loud sound. Don't want to take to shop cause i gave them enought money to buy a tank alrerady.

BUT IT DOSNT TURN OVER AT ALL! BUT SINCE I SLICED THE TWO WIRES OFF THE CLUTCH IT WILL ROLL IN ANY GER EXCEPT NUETRAL.

i would pull the side cover off the starter gears and look in there to see whats goin on when you hit the starter,could have a few bad teeth on a gear or something:)

your battery might be dead and its not getting enough energy to the starter
mine did that
try pop starting it and ride for a while
that will charge the batery enough for it to start
or you could just try charging the battery
lol
