my wife worked for a insurance comp.,she told me that they quote anybody under the age of 25 as a high risk, points or no points. But that does seems pretty high cause I wasnt payin that much when I was your age

01-14-2006, 10:55 PM
mine is $130 a month for liability and I have a 1989 toyota 4x4 pickup, when you owe money on a vehicle that raises the insurance ALOT I think because you have to have full insuranc eon it then

Our insurance was pretty high a few years back when we where that age and we bought a pos blazer for like $200 and insured it and got about 25 bucks off a month on our insurance for it was some kind of multiple vehicle discount. Maybe you should try and shop around.

yah thats the reason i dont have a truck yet, insurance is f$ckin insane for young people. Im 17, and have an expired permit, no license, because when i get a license it makes our insurance up and i have to pay the difference, because my parents are gonna make me pay the note, insurance and gas. But i have to watch and suffer as i see all these 16 & 17y/o's at school with new crew cab Z71's, and they've never had a job in their life. Their parents buy them brand new nice trucks and dont make them pay a dime. It really pisses me off.

My sister is 21 and pays $90 a month for insurance, my dad got a quote for me, and they said it would be $200+ a month:eek: :eek2: :eek2:  :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

You can thank all of the little punk drivers that think they are professional race car drivers @ age 16-17 and wrap their cars around tree's.

young people are high rist, a lot of accidents happen to people under 25, thats why rates drop at that age. elderly are to blame for high rates too. mine is 120.00 a month for FULL COVERAGE, im 33.:blah:

Yea that is high. My wife and I are paying $1100 a year for two vehicles. 2004 VW GTI 1.8T and a 99 Chevy Silverado Z71 - full coverage on both! I've been with this company since I was 16... when I got married and bought home owners insurance through them, I got severe discounts.

BTW, I'm 27 and my wife is 29.:D

I am 29 with aclean record and I pay $180 a month for a 98 tacoma 4x4 and a 98 civic. But when I was 18 I had a 91 cavalier
and it was $250 a month for the car and $265 for the insurance.
A kid that I work with got a quote of $13000 a year on a 1984 chev 4x4. Two years ago he got pinch for impared going 150km in a 80 zone. That is why kids insurance is so high,
stick it out and it will go down.

that is cheap. i pay $89 a month on my 1992 truck for liability only. i have had no tickets and only one accident that was not even reported. I might be getting a Z28 camaro here soon and insurance on it will be about he same as it is on my Truck. I dont get it, how they come up with these rates is beyond me.

yeah insurense is rediculous, i couldnt even imagine how much it would cost to insure me on the truck i drive (2003 f-150). I bought an old chevy car that barely run so my parents could insure me on something for cheap. I hate insurence companies; i get good grades, got a 98 on my written test, 1 point off on my drving test, and my parents both have clean records. Yet my insurens would still be the same as the girl who gets in a fender bender every day on her way to school

standardryder
01-15-2006, 10:25 AM
they should have it set up where when you first start out its at a resonable rate. then your first ticket or accident, it would go way up. because like Hondadudeehhhh said, its not right for the good new drivers to be paying close to what the bad drivers are.

Can you ask your parents to put the insurance under their name for you?

yah, everyone should start out at like $50 a month or somethine close to that, and when you get a ticket, it should go up.
We could save a ton of money if we didnt have insurance and we just saved money on our own to pay for any accidents we had, but it would never work cuz what if it was someone elses fault? But just think about how much money you blow on insurance, for a year when you file zero claims and have no wrecks.....all that money for nothin.

insurance is all about statistics. And people under 25 are considered high risk because of the things that happen with them.

I can get my permit now but my mom wont let me because she says that it will raise the insurance too much. What did everyone else pay for their permit insurance just so i can get an approximation.

Yeah, I've had my permit for 8-9 months now and I never knew anything about getting permit insurance. I'm pretty sure your parents are liable for you when you have your permit.

You aren't on their insurance until you turn 16 THEN their insurance goes through the roof.

that is life kiddies...i worked and paid for my insurance...so did my wife...and we still do...$1200 a year....i am 32 and she is 29...

and fro standardryder...let me guess, you are are driving a newer full size 4 wd drive with the biggest motor available for that truck, or you have a newer mustnag with the biggest motor available for that car, or something similar?

fuel and insurance cost is why i drive a 4 cyl s-10...

BlazingYamahaYz
01-16-2006, 07:59 PM
Might be because of the price of your truck...and I'm guessing you took out a loan which means you have to have full coverage on the truck? My insurance is $392/6 months on my 93 eclipse gs. I'm 17 and have one speeding ticket but took a class so that it would not count against me.

Insurance never gets cheap.

I'm 30, single, not a single accident or ticket in 7-8 years, and I still pay $1600 a year for full coverage on my 02 Wrangler with a $3000 deductible.

At 23-24 I payed $3000 a year for full coverage on a Geo Metro.. lol.

I'm an insurance agent in Indiana and it is true that you get considered high risk with our company until you have five years driving experiance. So that would make you 21. However a lot of times it's actually cheap to insure two vehicles instead of one. If your under 21 i'd count on at least $100 a month and that's just for PL/PD. Stay on your parents policy as long as you can!
