that looks mean. im curious why you chose the 450r hood over the 05 400ex hood though. What mods did you have to do in order for the hood to fit? Were you able to put your key where the reverse knob used to be, or is there an open hole there now?
Im thinkin about making the switch to 05 plastic soon.

Thanks guys, I really liked the look of the 450r hood over the 400 because the scoop was too small for me. The key is just pushed into the reverse hole and it worked perfect.

Why would he use the 05 400ex hood it would have a huge hole where the headlight goes. I love how this thing looks. That key in the reverse holder is very nice. I like it a lot!

Yep its a 99, The key slid right in the reverse hole and is pretty tight, tight enough it isnt gona come out. The only cutting I had to do to get the hood to fit was cut the 2 tabs off the front and drill some holes and I had to drill 2 holes at the top. I used automobile "christmas tree" clips that I cut down and used to cap the existing holes off. Other than that I trimmed the bottoms of the fenders to give it a little race cut look.

I was referring to the 05 Maier hood scoop made for the 05 400ex. That way he wouldnt have to modify anything.

Well I had gave up on mounting it and it looking right until I saw the maier 1 in person. It didnt look anything like the 1 in the pic on their website.

Did you have to do any modifying to mount the newer style plastic on the older 400?

nope everything was a direct bolt on besides the hood.

So you ordered a 400ex maeir first and it doesnt look anything like the one on there web site?

No, I ordered the 450r first but had second thoughts about how it was going to mount and thought about sending it back. The hood scoop on the 400ex looked like it was alot larger in the picture on their site compared to when I saw it in person on another persons quad.
