yeah i agree with u but also with quadmaster...

cleans are rele hard to do when u first try but after u learn the technique its rele easy...same goes with squating. squating ur first couple of times is gonna hurt ur back and soulders but from experience, i know its fine after u go a couple times

but yeah leg press is rele hard to do if u dont know the technique, i see a lot of kids in the weight room that just go half way down and say they can do 500...yeah...no ****, ur doing it wrong

ok, I never attacked you personally but since you did to me (for no reason) here is my comeback. I dont care how strong you are, I will probably never meet you and I am glad about that. I was pointing out that most of these kids say they are 14-15 and bench 200, and they dont. I can guarantee it unless they live in the weightroom. Most kids who dont lift cant even get 135. If you can do the amount that you said, good for you, but still nobody cares. I am in advanced physical conditioning with one of the most dominant sports schools in my state and we have about 80 people in our class, mostly juniors and seniors. Well, our max bench #'s arent that much higher than what some 120lb 14 year old kids posted. Its funny how every post comes up you start some sort of grudge match trying to prove that you are the ULTIMATE and cant be beat. I am not the only one who thinks that either... so I must be right or something.

About me being weak and not accomplishing anything, again a typical comment I would expect from you. I am not going to get into how much I lift or my max on anything, because I'm sure yours will be far superior with your god like talent and stregth.

Yeah guys, when I was a freshman in high school I drank my bodyweight in everclear at the wildest college party ever, then I went and benched 240lbs, with my left hand while I was getting some from the hottest girl youve ever seen.

how many sets/reps do you guys recommend for one workout of the chest using benchpress? Ive been doing 3 sets of 8-9 reps. Whats the best for quickly building muscle and strength? should u swap it up and do incline and decline some days too?

derekhonda
01-15-2006, 10:42 AM
Its best to change it up, some day go like 10-8-6, in two days go 5-5-5-5-5, in two days go 5-4-3-2-1 (usually when you are trying to max)

Just get on a program and stick with it, maybe look into after school weights that way someone can help you out.

400exrules
01-15-2006, 10:49 AM
but will my bench increase best from just doing regular flat bench press every other day or should i do incline and decline? Im asking because ive got a crappy bench set in my room, and im looking to buy a better one soon so i can start working out more.

What should i do for shoulders?

derekhonda
01-15-2006, 10:52 AM
When I workout upper body, it takes me 2 hours. I do butterflies, inclined butterflies, bench, incline bench, overhead bench, close grip bench, and then end with burnouts. Then i usually grab some free weights and do bis & tris and then I jump on some machines for them.

The more reps you do, the better the effect is gonna be.

how bout the leg press thing where you are standing up at an angle on the machine, and theres shoulder pads, and weights attached to that, so all the weight is basically on your shoulder, and then you push it down and up with your legs? I havent tried the normal one where your laying on your back.

do some shoulder shrugs. If u dont know what they are take like 20 lbs more than u can curl in each hand and shrug ur shoulders up. Hold it for a sec. or 2 then let it down and repeat. To get bigger biceps try taking 100 percent whey protein.

OK cool, j/w, have you guys ever heard of a supplement called NO-explode? I read on a dirtbike forum, somebody there uses this, and he said it gives you crazy amounts of energy like 5 mins after taking it, he said his bench press increased by 20 lbs because it gives you so much energy and ocncentration. Supposedly it opens up your veins a lot too, and allows your muscles to hold more creaotine, I'll post the site for it in a sec

after reading the reviews on that stuff, it sounds like that it can kill most kids if not used properly. stay away from anything except from steak, vegs, fruits, and gatorade while working out. if you cant get strong on that combo plus old fashioned weight lifting, than you need to go see a shrink to find someway to satisfy your ego.

i've never really max on bench but i figure it would be up around 200-210. i rep 160 for 4 sets of 5-8. never squat but i do the leg press where the weight is above your head. i 've never maxed on that either but i do 4 sets of 10-12 with 360. i figure i could do like 540 for a couple reps.

yeah that description fits me. lol, i am 16, 6ft tall, and 215lbs. i can bench 180-220 depending on reps. ya know, benching #'s dont mean anything if you dont take in consideration height and weight. both parents are pretty tall. were not fat were just big, ya know what i mean? i can run a mile in 6min50sec during lacrosse season. i do find it funny that some of y'all say you can put up 200+lbs and only weight like 150, but hey i know some dudes that wrestle and such, and they can seriousely do that. i say as long as you arent out of shape, and you apply your lifting to work work (like actual construction, or moving things) that your good to go!

Ok 14-15 year olds benching 200+ is super unlikely unless all of them have the same dad and his name is Arnold Schwartsenager. spelling that name was a total guess. or these kids weigh like 300lbs or are on roids.

I am in advanced physical conditioning with one of the most dominant sports schools in my state and we have about 80 people in our class, mostly juniors and seniors.

Yeah guys, when I was a freshman in high school I drank my bodyweight in everclear at the wildest college party ever, then I went and benched 240lbs, with my left hand while I was getting some from the hottest girl youve ever seen. i love it...congratulations, you dont care what i can bench, i dont care what anyone else can bench....hell, i havent touched weights since then...probably couldnt even do 200 anymore...point is though, this thread is about what you can do at what age...thats what i did at that age.

Yes, that was a typical comment from me....becuase im a jack ***, hey buddy..its the forums, get used to it.

I also never once claimed to drinky body weight in ever clear, go to the wildest college party, bench 240 with just my left...and get with the hottest girl you've ever seen. They all happened, i jsut never claimed it..so im wondering who spilled the beans?

oh well...atleast the rumors are true.

and yes, i am the ultimate. get used to coming in 2nd, *****.

Me too, except I do claim to drink my bodyweight in Everclear, RULE the wildest college party, I can bench 240 with my friend Pedro, and I had a threesome with the 2 hottest girls on playboy TV. Deal with it, you can call me Jesus, because I AM GOD.

Only one guy is on roids, he's a junior. It dosen't really matter if ya'll bealive me or not, don't really have a reason to lie about other people I could really care less of what there benchin. i maxed out on bench at 205 once i think... for sure i've done 195... i did that when i was 16... my max on regular squats going ALL THE WAY DOWN till my thighs are PARALLEL (propper form for a squat) was about 365 if i'm remembering right and my max with box squat is 515 once that was a week after i did 505 4 times. the day that i did 515 i did a lot of reps, heres what i did that day 315x10 405x10 450x10 470x10 485x5 495x5 500x3 505x1 510x1 515x1... yeah that was a lot of reps that day and the bar has a permanent bend in it from it too... lol... i've never tried to max out on leg press but i'm guessing it would be around 700 if i got back in shape again

who here has ever seen a cop lift weights?? its nuts!! one of my friends dads is a trooper and he's probably almost 50 and when my friend was going to break his own personal record on bench of 250 and go for 255 his dad jumped on there and said he was going to warm it up for him... he did it 10 times:eek: and didn't slow down any at all... it was fricken insane....

You can alternate upper and lower body workouts, and take 1 day a week off for recouperation.

I prefer to do both the upper and lower on the same day and do it every other day, leaving the off day for cardio work. Then taking my sundays off for recouperation.

I'm 30 175 lbs, and my bench 1 rep max is 240. Used to be a lot higher when I was younger. Never been an upper body guy, but still not too bad considering I had a torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder, and a complete seperation in my left shoulder.. lol. I'm going to be a very sore old man.. lol.

thats what everyone says, but you dont need to go crazy, i say, just eat normally, but healthier. dont drink any carbonated soda's, lay off the sugar, no little debbie cakes....and take a protein supplement once or twice every day. keep the water flowin, and make sure you have somethin to eat no longer then every 3 hours, otherwise your body will begin to feed off muscles or energy. and dont eat within a few hours of your bedtime otherwise whatever you eat is goin straight to fat

atleast im not...im not doin the bulking, then cuttin crap, cuz i dont wanna get fat....im stayin cut with a low BF% and lifting heavy.

oh, and if you want to put on pure bulk muscle, as far as bench goes, as soon as you can do something for 10 reps, you need to add weight, you should only be able to rep something 6-9 times if you want to add muscle.

listen you ****ing dork, just becuase YOU cant do it, doesnt mean other people cant, i played football for 5 years, and played on a highschool hockey team since 7th grade (practicing with them for 2 years until i was a freshman and could play), and i was a goalie, so i had to have strong arms and legs. I worked out every other day for a solid 2 hours for my class, and the days off from that we were doing other activities in the gym that kept us in shape.

I've decided that everyone who says stuff people do is impossible, has nothing more in their mind than jealously at the fact they cant do it, so therefor, they stick in there head that is impossible, forn them to try and make sence out of it, becuase they simply think if they cant do it, no one else can.

If he wants to get big, then he'll have to get a little wild with it. I never said a thing about carbonated drinks or sugars. They will do nothing for your body but hurt the process. High protein diets (eggs, red meats, bread, pastas etc etc.) will get you large in no time as long as you do it right. You can't go into the gym and burn off everything that you ate, you'd defeat the purpose of the high protein diet.

I did 335 over the summer right now I am staying with 315 for 2 reps. In the winter I change my work out. I do one week heavy and then the following week I do high reps light weight. Gee golly y'all are strong. As a collegiate football player, albeit DIII, I would recommend continuing your superb work in the weight room and work on speed and agility - Y'all are on your way to a full four year free ride!!!

Honestly, I can't even say I believe 25% of what you all say.

Personally, I was one of the weaker players. Age:15 - Weight: ~175 - Bench (one rep max) ~155

Working up after a killer season: Age:18 - Weight:252 - Bench: (We only test preseason - Currently we do Pyramids: 10x60%, 8x70%, 6X80%, 4x90% where my 4 rep set is 255)

There are a plethora of weight lifting strategies and theories. I've unlearned what I learned in high school and relearned everything according to my new strength and conditioning coach. Best bet is to give a 100% commitment and never stop.

For all of you that think your #'s in the weight room are the end of the world - I would welcome you to any collegiate gridiron. Technique and "Farmer's Strength" (having strength where it counts) will make you a far superior player to one that is uniquely strong in the weight room.

Take it or leave it, but quit the BS - who are y'all trying to impress?:huh

16 6,4 195-200lbs bench. I could probably bench more but my arms are really long so it makes it alot harder. My real strength is in my curling and peck deck.

I have farmer strength too because I grew up on a farm.

If you guys are just starting out on bench, or have hit a wall then I can't advise the Shawn Phillips routine enough. It has worked great for me in the past. It is called 50lbs in 50 days, and that is very possible.

Bench overview (http://www.geocities.com/~slopitch/mm2k/bench2text.htm)

Progression Table 1 (http://www.geocities.com/~slopitch/mm2k/tab1.pdf)

Pregression Table 2 (http://www.geocities.com/~slopitch/mm2k/tab2.pdf)

Workout (http://www.geocities.com/~slopitch/mm2k/wosheet.pdf)

I can't encourage you guys enough to try it. I do it a couple times a year to change up my routine, and I always have results. If you have been lifting for years you are not going to have 50lbs, but it still works.

Age 26
Height 6'2
Weight 260
Bench 415

I'm 17 and the last time I tried to max was last year before summer...and I maxed at 135 or 140 I don't remember. I finally got my own weights from a buddy but he only gave me about 100lbs worth of weights so that's all I bench for now.
