keep them their the best built quad ever and save your money for the 450rs. your making 400exs less valuable lilke me im guilty putting 6000 into mine and probably would have trade it for a old 450r or 4500 dollars but forget it i got one of the nicest ever built and im keeping it for ever. long live the 400ex and screw the 450s no offence i love them but im not going to let them make me feel like mines a p.o.s. because if they didnt exist my quad would be the bomb . thats all thats on my mind holla.

Long live the 400ex! Really sweet bike you have there! I love my 450r and my 400ex.... differently, but equally. I would never trade either of them for another bike. Having a 400ex and loving it so much is the only reason I got the 450r ( Hehe, go Honda). I love my 400ex!

i got too much into my 400 to even consider trading it in for a 450. id just lose out on it too much. therefore im redoing it again and making it better with even more money dumped into it.:D

saying the 400ex is outdated is like saying the 5.0 mustang is outdated because the new cobra came out who cares the 5.0 still kicks *** .

Sorry but the 400 is dead... its old outdated and isn't ment to race anymore beyond C class... even if u put a 450f motor in it the rear geometry still SUCKS!

mine will be sold as soon as possible for about a 8,000$ loss but its worth it to get something new and better!:macho

Long live the 400ex, the first high performance 4 stroke!!! It paved the way for the new 450's!

I agree , long live the 400. Just 4 years ago the 400 was the baddest 4 stroke mx quad you could get. And now because there are faster ones out the 400 is automatically junk, I DONT THINK SO !!. All you guys with the 450's (yfz & R) just remember that in 4 or 5 years your beloved 450 might be considered junk. Is the 1972 SS 396 Chevelle junk, I think not, the 400ex was the first of it's kind, and though it is true it has been surpased in the HP dept the 400 will never DIE!!! It may not be the best choice for the competitive racer these days but the truth is that 95% of all atv riding is trail riding. In fact there are literally hundered's of thousand's of 400ex's that have been sold in the US that will never see a race track. Just my opinion.:grr:

Long Live the 400. I love mine. Its a 99 and has about 6 grand invested, and I beat 450's all the time, it might be because they suck but hey, I still beat 'em. I like it too much to get rid of it. The only problem I have is it doesn't like to start sometimes.

They are still very nice quads. But they aren't dominate anymore. I love mine, but will move up to a 450 sometime next year probably. There nice, but not amazing anymore.

As far as saying they can't be raced past C class, better not let anyone know around here. Theres still a guy who competes and is always winning or in top 3 in A class around here...on a 400ex.

yes but if you race why not just by the 450. I raced last seaosn on the 400ex i posted above i was last on every holeshot but would pass kids and finish some were around 5th. Thta shows you that its all rider but still a better quad will help you be a better rider

JR3 I agree, I wasn't trying to argue the race ability of the 400, the 450R is obviously dominant on the track. I was just simply trying to point out that even though the 400 isn't the racer's choice anymore it still has it's place and will probably never go away. The 400 is very well balanced, handles very well in stock trim, and is virtually indestructable. As for the power issue, it's only behind the z/kfx by a few tenths of a second in a drag, which most trail riders most likely wouldn't notice anyway, were only talking about 1-2 hp difference. LONG LIVE THE 400EX !!!

Long live the 400. I don't have one but I would love to have one. I don't care how old and outdated it is it has proved to be reliable and is a trail riders best friend.
