Tough call. The problem is that the mini's that would probably fit him are the micro type 40's or mini-50's that you can't do a whole lot to and thus the kid outgrows them quickly. We started our son on a lt50 (before they put suspension on) as it was the smallest quad out at the time and actually wasn't any bigger than his power wheel but he quickly outgrew it's potential and we had to move up. Find one with a cvt tranny and wheels that have a common bolt pattern and can be upgraded, I believe there is an eton out there that fits the bill. Kasea 50's and 90's are the same size wise aside from wheels/tires. Check out the local papers and ebay for used ones and go hit dealerships and put the kid on different ones and see which one fits well.

We started our lil one on a LEM Condor, it was perfect until we tried to mod it out for racing :( then we got him a Kasea Skyhawk mini50 it is a cool lillte quad but couldn't mod it either so now we are w/ a Kasea Skyhawk 50 w/ MODS :D:D:D The mini 50 is a true mini!! Good LUck there is also the LT50

My son started on a LT50, 1 month later we went with a LEM cayman. My son just turned 6, but he has racing lem since he was 4. He loves the size of them! I also have one for sale if interested, e-mail me? Good luck in whatever you choose!:D

In my opinion the 50cc LEM Cayman is the best choice for the smaller riders especially. There are plenty of performance parts available for them also when your ready. If you do look into the LEM i would suggest a 2003 or newer. They are MUCH better than the early models and theres way more performance parts available for them.

Another thing to point out, that after they get faster and need more speed, they can be made into little rockets for the new production 50cc class for 6-8 year olds! Then they will still be one of the lightest little quads racing!:D

I had the same problem as your having right now. My boy broke his power wheels for the second time and it was time for a gas quad. After a little research I found the Kasea skyhawk 50 the easiest to modify in the future and there are a ton of parts avalible for it. My son is a big boy so it does fit him but a slightly smaller quad would have been a little better. The suzuki 50 fit him great but the dealer new my son was under 6 and would not sell it to me. I had to make a 2 hour trip to Pa. but I believe it was well worth it. Santa was real good to my boy this year.

If your rider is real small go with the Lem Cayman. They weigh like 130 lbs and are a perfect fit for the smaller riders but they can also be mod'd to keep the rider's interest. Any other mini 50 and you will be mad in a short period of time when your rider outgrows the quads abilities.

If your rider is average size or bigger I would look into DRR's DRX 50. At 40" wide they are one of the safest mini's out there and also can be mod'd to be very fast. They will be tough to beat in the 50 limited class this season.
