View Full Version : Cody's Compound!

Pappy
01-13-2006, 02:42 PM
It is officially named now:p

With the racing season approaching, and the weather working for us, we added some more track to "Cody's Compound":p (He can call it that until mid september then it will revert back to "Dad's Huntin' Hole"

A complete new section was added to beef up his XC skills including a killer down hill that has a few offcamber turns thrown in to keep him on his toe's:devil:

Pappy

Dropping of the edge into a creek. Its a bit short and steep:D

Pappy
01-13-2006, 02:44 PM
I ran him thru this creek bottom to make him work the quad and keep his speed a bit lower

Pappy
01-13-2006, 02:46 PM
Running in and out of the creek will allow him to get wet and better handle the slippery quad during races.

My big 9 point died right in front of where he is in the creek:D

Pappy
01-13-2006, 02:48 PM
A few hundred yards of water will also allow us to make sure everything possible is working to keep his quad running before a race

Pappy
01-13-2006, 02:49 PM
Cody eye's up the small bank he has to climb. Its either climb it or try and jump a water fall:devil: (wait till summer for that:eek: )

Pappy
01-13-2006, 02:51 PM
How's 2 hours riding thru this stuff and no water issues:confused: I love the TRX90:macho

Pappy
01-13-2006, 02:52 PM
Yep, I can make a wicked traing course:devil:

Pappy
01-13-2006, 02:53 PM
The little 90 claws it's way up a hillclimb taking him back to higher and drier ground

01-13-2006, 02:55 PM
thats a pretty cool course if we ca buy the dudes land next to us we would have about 6 miles of xc track including a creek crossing

Pappy
01-13-2006, 02:55 PM
Another shot on his 2nd lap climbing out of the creek bottom

Pappy
01-13-2006, 02:57 PM
Once he hits the top of the ridge, it gets tight and twist to build his arms up

BlasterEaten250
01-13-2006, 02:58 PM
Thats awesome, you have some nice land

Pappy
01-13-2006, 02:58 PM
More woods eventually drops him back on his MX track, which he promptly set sail on!

Pappy
01-13-2006, 03:00 PM
Lap after lap he started lowering his lap times, and he is really starting to drop the hammer as he got used to the new layout

Pappy
01-13-2006, 03:01 PM
I zoomed in close to catch what he was doing as he clears one of his jumps

Pappy
01-13-2006, 03:02 PM
Pitched in , heading for the downside

Pappy
01-13-2006, 03:03 PM
Looking over his shoulder as he fly's over a table top

Pappy
01-13-2006, 03:05 PM
nearing the 2 hour mark, he started getting tired:p

Pappy
01-13-2006, 03:06 PM
thats all from this evening, see ya:D

actually when i walked him around the trac, he said..."Dad, i'll just pin it and jump the creek":p

As we walked I informed him that I had no doubt he could indeed clear it, but the extra stress wasnt needed on the quad:p

Nice job on the track. Looks like Cody will be the rider to beat one day. Props for being a good dad also. How cool would that be, to have your dad build you a track, help build up your quad and take pics while you perfect your riding skills.:D Good job. Nothing like having your parents behind you 110%.

Nice track Pappy. Tell Cody we'll be up soon as the weather brakes. It shore is nice to leave the front yard and hit the mountains. Michael couldn't live if he couldn't hit the miles of trails around the house. Both of our kids are very lucky to live in the woods and be abel to ride every night.:D

And the secret to keeping water out of a 2 stroke is. Well if I told ya I'd have to kill ya.;) I do alot of work to make it waterproof! But It can be done. We have never had ours to skip a beat in water. But we run in it all the time to keep up on it.

What kind of engine is on that white quad cody has? im guessing a honda 90cc?

i can see he wears that shirt alot!!! that is awesome. Lets build that boy a ramp, i wanna come down and film him again

I got a $100.00 Lil-Man kicks yawl's butt.

Pappy
01-28-2006, 07:41 AM
the ol' lady got the shirt back to white, right after i took the pic and she saw the spot she made him take it off so she could wash it:p moms:p

he wears the goggles when he feels like it, or the situation warrants. when he rides alone its his call, but maybe now that he has grown he can finally be fitted with some roll off's so they last more then a lap.

yes, its a 90cc TRX90

he wants Akraix to swing in here for the day, do some filming and have a cook out. he already has the neighbor convinced he will have a ramp built here for Jon to do a backflip here:p

coolex

has cody been in a akraix movie ya and i put 35 on cody for the race and another 50 bucks says he turns pro

jwick07
01-28-2006, 08:04 AM
What are you going to use the lil pred for? Does Cody just like the honda better?

Pappy
01-28-2006, 08:08 AM
the predator sold a few weeks after the movie was filmed. it was too small for cody and he kept hitting his knees on it. and yes, he loves his trx.

right now im looking at options, im thinking of building him a 300ex. i wanted to build a hybrid but its just not cost effective and funds are super tight.

Pappy

yes, he was in the "Fallout"

he wrecked about 30 minutes before they came down to film him, fractured his wrist. he wouldnt go to the hospital until we went home for the day. he rode for them, then spent 7 hours standing beside dan while he filmed the movie.

the table he was hitting finally caught him, the little 90 bucked him off and he went sailing:p

jwick07
01-28-2006, 08:13 AM
I see, with a 300 would you buy a brand new or a used and modify it? There were, I havent looked in quite awhile quite a few nice 300's for sale on this site. With the way he throws that 90 around would you consider skipping over the 300 for a 400.

Pappy
01-28-2006, 08:17 AM
the problem with the 400 and YFZ or 450r is the lehgth, and peg to seat height. with him being short, he looses the needed ability to handle the quad, especially in the air.

i can do something with peg/seat height, but not really anything with the length of the quad. the 300ex is almost the exact same chassis length so it may make the best candidate for him

jwick07
01-28-2006, 08:31 AM
So to modify the seat/peg height your going to add extensions to his legs. Good idea make him walk a little taller.

Pappy when your out and about your land what quad do you ride when take Codys pictures?

Pappy
01-28-2006, 03:10 PM
I usually tool around on a honda rancher 4x4. it allows me to get out of his way and has reverse:p

the seat and peg height issue can be resolved with a bit of work to the seat and by raising the peg 3/4 of an inch. i have the technology:p no work will be preformed on his legs:p

and we have obstacles here too:chinese: ol' chicken wanted to race:eek:
