Is there some kind of history behind it? I'm just curious...

I assume you're talking cops? As in Hawaii Five-0, "book 'em Dano". Hawaii Five-0 was a cop show back in the late 70's.

'Five O' is slang for police officers, originating from the TV show,
“Hawaii Five-0”. Hawaii is the 50th state, hence the nickname "5-0."

URBAN DICTIONARY
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=five-o&r=d

In the show, “Five-0” was supposedly an elite unit of the Hawaii State
Police who answered only to the Governor’s Office, but in truth there
IS NO Hawaii State Police Agency and never has been. The municipal
police agencies and jurisdictional Sheriff Departments of Hawaii are
responsible for all primary law enforcement duties in that state.

I hope that answers your question.

All police interceptors are limited at 140, I think, don't quote me. So they are all pretty much equal. :macho I'll let you take my hemi for a spin pappy, and we'll see if you call them slow. I have to defend my hemi...............................

not to put down dodge, the new hemi sfirst off is not a true hemi. and secondly, i drove one and it was not that impressive. My truck is a 92 TBI chevy with 210HP. there was a difference power wise, but it was not a 130HP difference as the number stated.

cant out run the radio.....

Then again I wouldn't say all interceptors are limited to 140, in AK the cops and troopers run cars they've taken from druggies and criminals, they have a 70's and 02-4 Vette, a 70's fire bird, and a couple of mustangs that have chased more than a few ricers down.

And they have helicopters. Your not out running them. Even if your faster, he can always go up to keep you in sight.

The cop cars in Canada don't have "limiters" on them... And they usually have some stuff "done" to them to increase their speeds and power...

I personally like "The Fuzz"

Alls i know is when driving upstate ny its not rare to be in the fast lane cruising at 85-90 and have headlights in ur rearview aproaching quickly. So you move into the middle lane and one of them camaros will just fly past you and u just catch a glimpse of the "Police" logo on the side.

the new chargers will light up the tires from a 30mph roll ...with the standard auto tranny in D...(they dont even make manuals for them)

how is that not powerful? and no, im not going by what others tell me, I work for a Dodge and Chryser dealership that sells Chargers and 300's w/ the HEMI's in them and they are fast - no doubt about it

I love the hype about a "HEMI" when just about everycar on the road today has HEMIspherical combustion chambers, even your quad. It was a big deal back then. but no anymore. Now its just a Trademark...
