cutting my fmf

i have a fmf powercore 4 with a powerbomb header and i plan on getting a hmf silencer in the near future. so im debating if i should cut my silencer down and see what happens. im wondering if i do this how much should i take off just cut it in half or how much should i take off? i could probaly just take it to work and cut it with a band saw. and also will it mess with my jetting at all like make it run richer or leaner? thanks

not sure about the jetting but u can cut as much as u want,i think the shorter the louder :D

and also wich side do i cut from the? the endcap side or the otherside?

I've heard to cut from the headpipe side (other as you put it).

im pretty sure u cut from the end cap side,but id find out from some1 who has done it b4 to make sure!

yea ive heard mixed things about wich side. i was thinking the head pipe side cause its just got the allen heads holding that side on, then on the endcap side theres the ribits u got to drill out. i dont see why it matters of wich side u cut from but i never done it before.

man i feel stupid im sitting here looking at other shortys and i noticed all the exhaust had a mount that was welded, on mine its a clamp. so it dont matter wich end i cut from. i think im gonna try her out, should have here goin tommarrow night ill reply back on here on the results. thanks for the help guys.

i cut it put it back together and it sounds awsome a lil too loud. didnt get as much gain as what ive heard from some people. but i noticed a gain in the lowend. gonna be getting the hmf here pretty soon.

if u ride trails alot and dont like it loud dont do it. but you do gain some power from it. and also i got a 440 kit with ported head so you will probaly see bigger gains with a more modded engine.

Hey i got the same pipe do you have pics of it and can you give a play by play of how you did it.

i took the core out and when i cut the silencer i used a bandsaw so it cut it straight if you cut it with a cutting wheel measure out how much your gonna cut off and have a staright line goin all the way around. and just cut it dont go to fast. then for the core you do the same thing. its not to hard to do just plan it out before you do it, and dont rush through it. ill try and get pics posted up.

15 and a half inches not including the tip and i cut 7 inches off

ohh you already did it.....well thats kool...post a pict

cause the one thats on there now is all beat up the core never lined up with the tip, this was before i cut it. it lines up a little better now but not quite. there was alot of dents in it wich when i cut it i got most of them out. the more i ride it the more i think i dont need a new silencer. it sounds awsome just loud as hell is what i dont like about it.

I cut my FMF today everything went ok and looks good. But i think i may have a slight exhaust leak when i get on it i can hear a hissin sound. Its not a real loud hissin sound but it really gets on my nerves. Is the hissing sound an exhuast leak because im pretty sure i know where it is.

mine leaks a little bit but i dont hear it. did you gain any power from it?

Havent gotten to put much time on it yet put it feels like a slightly harder hit on the bottom end but then again maybe im imagining it. The first time i rode it after the chop i just rode it to the end of the driveway and back without a helmet but today with a helmet on i couldnt here the slight hissin sound so maybe its nuthin.
