View Full Version : 250x chain/ sprocket problem

i have a 36 tooth rear sprocket and the stock 13 tooth up front

the chain is too loose if i leave a link in and too tight if i take a link out

even when i adjust it

how can i fix this

would a 14 tooth front sprocket fix this

You might have to take a link or 2 apart. Its gotta work someway. Your chain is prolly to long.

yes i had that same problem and a 14 tooth or 12 tooth will fix it but if you go to a 14 tooth you will need to loose or custom make a case saver and if you go to the 12 you will have a lot of bottom end imo

if it is to short with a link out and to long with one in you can fix this by getting a half link they sell these at your local motorcycle shop my friend had the same problem on his 200x and a half link fixed his hard to fit chain right up

i had one of those already but it didnt fit right and ruined my chain

How did it ruin your chain? the only way i can think of it ruining it is if you didnt get the right one because if you have an o ring chain you have to get a o ring half link

I had the same problem when I got my 36t rear for my 300ex. I had to get a halflink from princess auto. We had to play with it a bit to get it to work but it has been on for a year now It works perfect. To run 13/36 gearing you need a half link or a longer swinger
