Just wondering if anyone knows where I can have my stock 300ex swingarm lengthened? I really don't want to spend $450-$500 on an aftermarket swinger. I was going to have it done at the quadshop but since they are closed now I'm looking for other options.:ermm:

It really sucks because he is the one who did the rest of my suspension and I have been very happy with the setup.

Cut it in half between the shock mount and carrier, add a tube section in, reinforce it, and reweld it.

I can't see having it lengthened would be much cheaper/cost effective, unless you are just drag racing. JMO

It's actually a LOT cheaper than paying $600-$800 for a new swinger.

It would have to be done "right" though, or you're putting yourself at a lot of risk.

Definately worth doing if it's done right and much cheaper, but for 500$ you might be able to sell a stock one and break even.

Yeah. That's why I made the post. I was hoping to find someone reputable to lengthen it. It should be a fairly easy job for an experienced welder. And the price to add an inch or two to the stocker was well under the price of a new aftermarket one.

Also does anyone know if lengthening it will affect the skid plate mounting?

The last price quote I got was for around $150 to lengthen the stocker plus the price of revalving my shock so it's still definitely cheaper.

The one that I lengthened you could still use the skid plate mounts, but of course the skid plate was now short (since the swingarm was longer). I lengthened it like bwamos said - cut it between the mount and the carrier and add the amount you want and put it back togehter. Yes, you will have to revalve your shock or find an aftermarket shock that is already set up for a heavier weight.

If done right, it will be as strong, if not stronger, than stock.

I bought my 300EX from someone who was an MX'r and had the stock swingarm extended 1 1/2 inches.

I am a 220 pounder and it has shown no signs of stress marks, or cracks. :)

Yes, once you lengthen the stock swing arm, you will need to relocate the mounting to support the skid plate.

I could be wrong, but I am willing to wager that the aftermarket one would be a little bit lighter that the stocker extended... Which is something to consider if you are trying to save weight were you can.
