What in the hell is this world (but probably more specific, USA) coming too? I, like many of you, scan ebay and other classifieds looking for that deal of a lifetime. The last 5 Argos (8 wheel drive vehicles/boats) I have responded too have all been scams.

"I am currently out of the United States with the military, But i have no problem shipping it to your door at my expense"

I am getting so tired of hearing that line. Not only are they lying about being in our great military, but they are just full of **** overall.

For ****s and giggles one day I looked up how much it would be to ship something that big and that heavy through a commercial transporter. It was estimated somewhere in the upper $2,000 from wisconsin to indiana (a trip easily made in a day)

I played games with him for a while, but soon he found out i was just ****ing with him and left me a lone.

I am just getting sick of this stuff, what has gone wrong in our country? When it was no longer "acceptable" to beat your kids did that wave of the future turn everyone into an *******? Thats my theory...man am I glad my dad always wore a belt.....

In my opinion morals went out the window when the modern culture decided that right and wrong are not black and white issues. That is more of a grey area depending on what the individual beleives is right and wrong.

It's what the schools teach. Idiotic professors actually teach that you should not be able to legislate based on morality. Laws are nothing more than an extension of moral values. Saying that you cant make laws based on what is right and wrong is like saying that you cant convict someone for murder or extortion because they thought it was ok to do.

This is a stretch.

There are plenty of "immoral" things that are perfectly legal. Pre-marital sex, prostitution (in some areas), gambling, drinking, pornography, ect ect.

There are grey areas, but for the most part, laws are based on personal "rights" and freedoms, not morals. You can do dang near anything you want, even if it's immoral, as long as it doesn't interfere with the rights of another.

Im all in favor for harsher punishments, I think that might be the ticket.

Whats the punishment for first time stealing? Probation? Weekends in jail for a month?

Dereks way - Left hand cut off.

Bet you wouldn't steal anymore.

Wanna kill someone? Forget your 10 years in jail, you will die too.

Rape? hope you like broom handles...

I was talking about this with my sister who just got back from europe and she said that the crime rate in most cities there is considerably lower because they have stricter laws. she studied in italy for a semester and a guy in her dorm was caught drunk driving and was sentenced to 2 years in prison. Even though the drinking age is sixteen they have less alcohol related crimes because of strict punishments.

Of course they would have to be convicted before these punishments took place.

And Pismo, that is something that is very true. Just think about this example:

Getting caught speeding in your car and/or running red lights.

Everyone does it, and most people will get caught at one point in their life, and lets face it, speeding tickets suck but they arent too bad.

However, lets change the penalty for speeding. The new penalty is death by hanging.

How many of you are going to speed now? Exactly, no one.

This is a basic example that would of course never take place because the penalty does not fit the crime, but the example still stands. With harsher punishment we WOULD have LESS crime and I am all for it.

Our cops carry clubs to. Billy clubs or ASP extendable batons(these hurt worse than wooden clubs). But you got remember one thing here, we have ambulance chasers and a thing called police brutallity.

Its funny you should mention the British. I dont have any first hand knowledge of whether their crime rate is lower than ours, but I would suspect that it really isnt. Britains gun laws suck; gun owners have a very strict muzzle on them if I understand it right.

Also, Britian has a terrible problem with alchoholism. Many prominent statemen have recently (and have been) getting into trouble for legislating and giving major speeches while severly intoxicated. I think yesterday's New York Times had an article concerning this. Something to think about.
