Its got to be a real pain to take all the parts off to just the frame. Even harder to put it back I'd would think?

Looks sweet though

i'm going with a metalic blue with yellow plastic. There is a 450f at eastcoastatv.com that has the 400ex plastic and frame so it would give you a idea. I just don't like the carbon fiber wheels with the yellow rings and the brush guards.

Well, its a toy, but you get the idea.

How long does it take you guys to strip your bike down. Do you just get bored one day in the middle of winter and say I need something to do? So you see your quad sitting in the garage and say, "Hmm, maybe I should powdercoat that thing." I just really want to know how long it takes you to take it apart, then put it back together. How many extra parts do you end up with?

well ,,um,,,,,you should not end up with any extra parts....if you want to ride it for very long that is....

and as far as tearing it apart,,,it takes me a couple of hours at the most,,,,,,,,then stripping everything and getting it ready to powder is the most time consuming,,,,,,,and putting it back together is the most fun...

one day i took myatc 250R apart,,,,started at three in the afternoon...tore it apart,,,,,,powdercoated a bunch of stuff,,,,,and had it back together by 1am......i know there is no front end to mess with,,,,but it was still fast....:D

It should take 3-5 hours for you to tear it down. About the same to put it together.

My suggestion is to not stop at the frame, check my sig to see all the stuff I had done. And play around w/ some different color combinations. I used Red, Yellow, and Black. Just my .02

Yeah, I live in ohio, and im wondering how much it would cost me total to do the arms, frame, etc.if i cant afford it, ill just have to tear her down, get some sandpaper, sand away, get some candyapple red. put alot of coats of that on, that a couple of clear coats.Would that keep it looking good for a good while?

well i dont know about shipping,,,,,,,,it varies and ups has a site for that...

the powdercoating depends on the color(S) you choose,,,,,additives like metallic flake, colored sparkles(red or blue), prism powder,,,or clear coats,,,,,i have 93 translucent colors, 85 texture colors like blue silver vein, green silver vein, crazy chrome vein, even pink silver vein,,,etc...,,,,69+ solid colors that can have metallic/sparkles/prism powder additive put in ,,,,,,24 various topcoats that can be put over the solids or what ever,,,,,,like plycho lime that can go over almost chrome, champagne clear, moondust etc,,,,,and then there are the metallic powders which number 128. and that is only from one supplier,,,,,,,there are more from other suppliers.......and the powder itself can get expensive.....

Do you really need a quick change cover? I am just wonder, cause you should be going through clutchs too quick. I had the same clutch for 2yrs and she is almost like new still.

Its not a 125 dirtbike,so she should need to much action, hehe

CBW
07-17-2002, 07:46 AM
haha........lol.........no i have had the same clutch in my atc250r for 4 years,,,,,,,,,,but but the cover for the 400 was half the price of a new one so i got it,,,,,,,,,just for cosmetic purposes:D

I like the Red Frame with Gray Hammertone A-Arms and Swingarm. Then a Chrome Steering Stem and Subframe and you have a nice looking rolling chassis. Here is a Pic I had to make it really small for it to work.

I was thinking of painting my frame black and my rear skid plate while my rear plastic is white with the red grafics on the fenders-rear and on the tank and seat cover, grafics are red/yellow and front fenders are removed and the nose peace is black and so is the tank plastic... that ya think an maybe a arms ans swing arm to?
