i may sound stupid but what is the button is it for the chin strap

You do your strap thing up regularly and just loop it back around one more time and it buttons up. The only purpose I can see is to keep the slack from hitting you in the neck and to keep it tight. It doesnt do a very good job of that anyways, because I rode my snowmobile with it on and when I peaked over the windsheild going across a lake the metal thing beat the hell out of my neck:ermm:

the only reason for the button is so that the strap doesnt wave in the wind.
