it all depends on how long the drag is. the ds650 takes forever to get up to speed if its stock.so if its an 1/8th mile ull kill him.

you will max out both machines in the 8th so he doens tstand a chance. The more i think about he doenst stand a chacen at all.....double the bet.

If he beats you on that tank, then you deserve to lose $100! I would think you could toast him stock, without the HRC kit. But go ahead and put it in and embarass him big time!

However if you show up to race and you can see a turbo and a NOS bottle, then just tell him you were joking:macho

i kow those ds650's are fast at top end so i was wondering if he would catch me when we both hit top speed

my cousin has an 04 Ds650 with a full system big gun and a uni filter as well as a vortex rev limiter and i was wondering since i havent reaced him with my 05 R with a full system yosh k&n and a dyno jet kit but who should win? i was pulling him off the line every time stock and winning 300ft drags but how bout in a 6-700 ft race?any opinions?

i have an 05 ds with a pipe only and there pretty quick...the 05s and up are quicker overall then the older ds's, but the 450r usually takes the holeshot but the ds catchs up quick if it hits all the right shift points...good luck with the race though, let us know what happens

speaking of 06 450r vs. 06 DS650,

It seems as though K&N have the same part numbers for the air filter and they cross reference each other.

Amazing to see a 450cc use the same filter as a 650cc, don't you think?

If the ds is a 04 or newer and has a good pipe and rev box you might be very surprized .... the ds will definitly have a higher top speed ....

I own a 04 baja X ds with minor mods and I have no trouble out running the 450s on the flats ....

If the pesky 450 beats my ds I brake out my v-force and make the 450 rider cry :D

anyone in Mn wanna bet me $100 ? I need lunch money :p :p :blah:

The strip might be the only place a DS could do anything. Ever see them on an MX track? My local races there was always 3 guys with them. Only one could really keep up and run with the front runners, but he had quite a few mods and was a very good rider. The other two often got spanked even by my nearly stock 400ex.

i didn't even know the DS650's were still being produced!!!
how is the factory suspension on those things?
would this quad be any good for XC?

looks like it weighs 150 lbs. more, though. wow, that is signifigant.

An 8th mile is 660ft. and i don't think a DS has more top end, I think they both top out about 78 mph.

that things looks like a beast.
looks really narrow too. maybe that's because there are no front fenders.

dude the ds is horrible, i roasted them on a mx track with my pretty much stock kfx 400, and who said something about a v-force they are extremely slow, my friend has one with duel pipes filer jets and my 400 when it was stock would leave it sitting when i hit 3rd gear

do not say a KFX 700 is slow it is not designed for a MX track but I can still keepup or even beat some Preds and 400 s on our local track. Just need the huevos to jump it. And the best off al I am not dead tired after all this. Yes a equal rider will beat me. but like they say horses for courses.

The only thing I dont understand is why Bombardier would build something that big,and not put reverse on it. My buddy was borrowing one while his 450R was getting mods done to it. He overshot a turn, got stuck on a berm, and spent a long a** time trying to turn it around in a ton of mud. It was great.

:o i think the v force is a little slow but i guess you can't expect something that big to move very fast, but it also could be faster being a fully manual
