AZ racing - Speedworld New Year GP

I have posted pictures of the New Years Grand Prix hosted at Speedworld in Surprise, AZ. This race was a Worcs style race that included the National, GP tracks and a desert section that was took good riders about 7min to make the loop.

Speedworld will be hosting the Worcs race on the weekend of the Jan 22nd.

18 Quads turned out for the event, with 12 of them being in the beginner class to have just about a full gate at the start of the race.

The riders headed off into the Desert Section, the quad were starting to stir up the dust for some tough racing in the silt beds.

The Desert Section drops in and out of the wash several times, some areas were wide enough for some side-by-side racing but most were single lines.

Many of the racing took the riders between the mesquites, and staying on the track becomes a lot harder as those sticker trees hang further and further over the track from other riders snaging on them.

Some of the trails look extremely flat but have some sneaky jumps that come up on you quickly and can easily buck a rider off the quad.

Another view of one of those jumps that are hard to see. As you may notice the crews have put some markers to let the riders know of the danger.

The Desert Section connect back with the National MX track and all the tracks at Speedworld where the MX'ers can make back the time they may of lost to the Desert Racers.

The Whoops section of the MX track get harder and harder as the hour long races started to take a toll on the riders. Many who were double or tripling in and out of the whoops section later saw them singling the whoops later in the race.
