I was thinking that one was carbureted and the other is fuel injected. But, don't quote me on that.

nope both are fuel injected because the older model camaros were fuel injected but had a LT1 motor and my moms 85 corvette has a LT1 motor its tuned port injected

Im not exactly sure what the differnce is but I know that a standard LT1 puts out 275hp and a standard LS1 puts out 305hp.
My dad had a LS1 in his trans am and it hauled ***!

The 350 TPI motor from the mid-to-late 80's was the L98. Corvette got the LT1 in 1992 followed by the F-body in 1993.

The LT1 in the Vette/F-body was iron block with aluminum heads whereas the LS1 is all aluminum. The LT1 used an aluminum intake plenum, the LS1 was composite. The heads on the LS1 are also completely different as well. Aside from displacement and number of cylinders the LS1 is almost a completely different motor.

Guy400 is correct. The LS1 is a completly new design from GM. The LT1 was basically a norma iron block 350 with factory goodies. LS1 parts do not cross over to the run of the mill 350 motor, but LT1 parts do. You can put LT1 heads, cam, pistons, ect in most 350 blocks.

guy since you know your chevy so well...have you ever heard of my model/bodystyle truck having ignition switch problems....when ridding down the road the tach will drop out, the speed will drop out, the trip, and the milage will stop working....it wont go into over drive like its posta....and it wont shift like its posta either...for instance if you come to a stoplight and if you ahve it into OD the computer will not tell the truck to shift bakc down to first gear so you have to manually shift the truck...

All LS2 based motors are 6 bolt mains, 4 in the standard location 2 from the side through the oil pan rail. 4.8 and 5.3 share the same bore size and use similar pistons, with the 4.8 being a flat top and the 5.3 dished. I have a whole publication on the simiarites and differences between all the LS2 Based motors, but these are only a few that come to mind. All the truck motors were cast iron blocks until 04 or 05 when the aluminum 5.3 was offered. All the 5.7's and also 6.0 Corvette and GTO motors are aluminum blocks. 99-03 truck motors are known to have a knock or tapping noise, even from new :eek2: (I know, I have two that do this), due to a faulty o-ring on the oil pump pick-up tube, which allows air to enter the oiling system. The roller rocker arms used on the truck motors are known to be a problem, check the magnetic drain plug when you change your oil for needles from the rocker arm bearings. The outstanding performance of these motors is a direct result of the excellent cylinder head design, with "cathedral" shaped intake ports that gives the injectors a straight shot at the intake valve. I know there's alot more, plus I have an interchange showing which parts interchange between the various size motors.

ls1's are found in newer f-body cars(TA's , firebird, vette's and camaro's)98-02. the lt1 is what was found prior to them. i believe 92-97, but i could be wrong.

sounds like you have a loose plug going into the tranny. your truck has a 4l60e tranny that is completly computer controlled. a plug going into either the transfercase or transmission could be loose causing everything to dorp out. since it is computer controlled you tranny shifts according to speed, not Rpm and if your speedo is not working corectly then neither will your tranny and the shift points will not be right.

well i was told by the transmission place that it was a bad ignition switch??? as oddly as that sounds

EDIT: they even ran diagnostics on it with the computer and the computer said it was the switch
