how good are the crf mx bikes in 250r frames? ive heard some people say that they are completely bad *** on other sites. and how do they compare to trick yfzs and 450rs?

anybody that has ridden a trick crf and a trick production 450 this is a question for you? what are they like?

any info would be appreciated. thanks:)

well it all depends. In stock trim the CRF motor is faster but in all honestly with the 06 450r out and all that its not worth it. the motor alone will cost you 2500 plus the 250r rolling chassis 3000, then aftermarket. PLus you need someone to do all the work.

i mean a used one, would it be better to get a used crf mx quad or a new yfz with all the trick stuff

you won't see many crfs in 250r chassis because the motor is to tall for the frame...

if it was in an ACTUAL 250r frame its not that great... now if u get a walsh, laeger, etc frame with a crf450 or cr500 linkage then it'll be better then a new 450r... but if its not a total hybrid i'd rather have the 450r...

i would have said a lonestar frame but i didnt want to be specific. i meant a 250r based frame with a crf engine. all the crfs i have seen are full blown mx bikes and that would be what im looking for. but do you think a crf would be better than a fully trick yfz or the new ltr?

Well honestly yes it will be better, The handling will be a lot better. More overall power, BUT theres always the question of reliability. I know the race frames are strong but those motors were not engineered to push 4 wheels 5 times wider then a dirtbike wheel around. Also it sounds like you want the best of the best but you cant race much with a non-production bike.

I wrench on my hybrid twice as much as my broseph does on his 450r... but it's almost twice as fast:devil: ....

what all needs frequent wrenching on your bike dangle?

Vibrations from the power.... If you don't have the frame fully gusseted it'll tear it apart...

have you ever had problems with the tranny or clutch from the larger contact patch? and what about the rest of the motor?

I have a full hinson/magura setup... so no problems there...I'm actually rebuilding it for the first time.. still running on the stock 03 topend... the intake valves finally crapped out along with a headgasket... crf intake valves are made out TI so they burn and loose adjustment easily.. I'm repacing all four with ferrera valves, nmotion porting, oem 02crf450 cam and wiseco pro-lite...

That's 3 years of mx/fqx on the same piston....

id like to see a crf250f motor in a 250r frame. I think that would be a quick lil quad.Put that in the youth class as a hybrid.lol

how would you compare your bike to a stock yfz lol. i have a pretty much stock yfz and am looking for something better, would a used lonestar crf be worth the cost of selling my yfz and putting in some money towards a crf do you think? or do you think id be better off with tricking out my yfz with all the suspension and motor stuff? :ermm:

I haven't been pulled by a stock bore yfz yet... You're best off tricking your yfz though....

Rookiex- I see that all the time... People tie up 20g's in a youth quad...
