The oil that bathes the clutch, is it the same oil that runs through the oil filter? It is the motor oil that runs through the filter correct? Or is it tranny oil the bathes the clutch? Just a quick, stupid question, I feel like an idiot. Thanks for anything.

If you don't know,it is smart to ask. Quit beating yourself up!

The engine oil and tranny oil are separate on a 450r. I like this as you can use different or specific oils for both areas. It also keeps clutch wear deposits and such away from any engine parts.

The engine oil is the only oil that is filtered. read your owners manual it will help explain it for you.

Alright that clears things up. The reason I was asking is because I went to change my oil the other day and found a bunch of metal shavings around it. The dealer said that he thought my clutch could be screwed up? Well, now that I know this, that doesn't explain the chips on my oil filter.

Sounds like you need to go to a different dealership.
