alright my 02 kx 125 is pretty much the first offroad vehicle ive owned.im thinking of keeping the 125 and picking up a 250x for about $1,000 or so.
these are things i have in mind

-
full exaust system

full bore plastics front, rear

+3 longtravel A-arms

+4 extended axle

revalved shocks or just buy elkas/axis/pep or maybe used stockers off a 400 or 450 not shure yet

Uni filter

pro taper handle bars

kenda rears on beadlocks or baja rims idk yet

razr fronts on stockers or douglas .190

those are the things im sure about

these are the things floating around in my mind

curtis sparks 299 stroker

port/polish

bigger carb

im planning on spending 1000 om the quad and another 1300 on pipe/plastics/shocks/aarms and axle

the reason i wanto try out quads is because the place i ride is kinda sandy and it has a little bit of hard dirt.Mostly pits.

so could you guys just put some input or any ideas

thanks
mike

Sounds like a good setup but for the money you'd spend on modding the 250x you could buy a used 400ex with aftermarket parts and be much better off.

yea but i dont have the money straight up ill have 1 g by the summer and just mod it from there and maybe a year or so later i could use it as a partial trade + cash to a 400 maybe older 450

I wouldn't go too nuts on modding the 250x then if you think you may upgrade to a 400/450 later. You will lose most of what you put into the 250 when you sell it. I speak from experience. I have over $2000 in mods on my 300ex and I would be lucky to get $2500 for the quad as it sits. Go for the suspension mods/pipe and tires first though since it will make the most difference.

Save your money and sell the kx and buy a 250f.

I bought a 250x and sold it within 2-3 months. All I did was put 400ex a arms, some different shocks, and some rear wheels and tires on it and I was already tired of putting that much money into it....IMO its not worth it

why cant u ride ur dirt bike in the sand?

01-09-2006, 03:26 PM
i can its just not as fun as riding a quad in the sand and in the pits.

mx 428 im trying not to get another dirtbike unless i get realllllly goood and start racing but otherwise my little 125 will do for now

would i or wouldnt i be satisfied coming off a 125 going to a 250x or should i find a 400ex or should i just start a project like a 250r project or something idk

if u haaave to get rid of ur bike for a quad:rolleyes: :D then I'd suggest waiting till you can get a 400. I have a kx125 and got a quad, but the only thing that I had any fun on was a 400. Depending on how fast you are on your bike. I was used to the power my KX had, and nothing but a 400 satisfied that. I think you should stick with a bike:D but this IS a quad forum.

if you buy a 250x and mod it now and then want to trade it and money for a 450r or 400ex I doubt they would want to downgrade to a 250x the value of quads keep on going down because they make em better every year so I would wait a little bit and then you would be able to pick up a 400ex for real cheap
