Question of HP

I was wondering if there is anyway to get a 300ex to have around 38 horse power?

Has anyone modded there 300 to get that much horse power?


38 is around a 440ex or a close to stock 450r

well there are ways that you could but, you will never b e able to have that throttle response, speed and many other things that a 400 or 450 can offer. There is no point in spending your monye because it could be thousands of dollars. So if you have the money, save up for a better ATV

390 stroker

cam
shave the head
bigger valves

no clue what these would put you at but its atleast 35hp easy

Yes it can be done without costing a lot of money if you can do your own work.35hp is reasonable

but then again it could never b e as good as a 400 or 450 like mine

well a stock 300ex has about 13hp, not to be bashing or anything, but tripling the hp would be nearly impossible without nitrous or turbos in my opinion.

it would be like building a 100hp 450R, possible, but very very expencive

i think project300ex is just mad because my atv would kick his ATV's ***.

what are you smoking about 18 hp stock

im talking about both because i would woop both of them. I got so much **** into my ATV it isnt even funny so well see ill show you some pictures. When i get the chance!

ok so whats your point? 13 or 18, still VERY VERY far away from 38, and you still have to double the power.

well because a TC national dose 33hp or so and thats only 300cc so add a couple and you got 35 easy

thank you finally someone is with me. 300ex are seriously a waste of time. You go big w/ a 400 or 450 or go small w/ like a 250. Going in the middle is a waste of time if you want to go fast. Just spend a little more money and get your self a 450 or 400 and then well talk.

OK, first of all, you have really no room to talk about your quad... theres more than a few 300's on here that would walk all over your 400, and especially with that 16 tooth, i also like your choice of a high quality pipe:rolleyes:

ha ha ill take on any 300 any time and that pipe isnt as bad as people think its loud it turns heads you just mad cause if you put that pipe on your piece of crap then once the heads were turned eggs would fly from hands cause no one cares about a 300ex

How about i smoke you on a mx track with your 4fiddy and my 385?I have been riding quads probably long before you were born.i happen to be a big fan of the 300ex.I guess i just like "wasting my time".:rolleyes:

I read in a ATV 4 Wheel Action mag awhile ago about the Four Stroke Tech 330 kit, the 300ex had the big bore kit, bigger valves, a pipe, it was port n polished,etc... And Mickey Dunlap said it had 32 hp. So if you got a 352 or 390 stroker kit im sure you would be right around 38 hp

fast enough to dust a 400ex that had a 11:1 wiseco piston, stage 2 hotcam, revbox ,white bros full exhaust, jet kit, open airbox and stock gearing. I owned both quads, and sold the 400 cause it just couldn't hang with the ol Blasty.. sad but true.

I run 14/40 gearing on my blaster if it matters.

I'm gunna have to question your speed on this... if stock is a 15 tooth sprocket and you took it to a 14, i dont think your goin any 75 mile per hour, much less doin a wheelie

used to have bigger sprocket but thought the smaller would be better for me but it wasnt so im switching back

Ok IF you were doing a wheelie at 75 mph (btw how do you know you were going 75 mph,just curious) and fell of then you would suffer from alot more than a sore shoulder. Also how the hell were you going 75 with gearing like that if you were then you wouldn't be able to pop it up on a wheelie because you would be topping out and don't even tell me that you rode a wheelie until topping out

Sure.. I'm running about 30-32hp. A little shot of Nitrous Oxide would certianly bump me up to 38. ;)

A properly ported, big valve, 330 w/ cam, carb, pipe, 11:1, rev box, etc.. will whoop a 400ex w/ pipe/filter in a straight line drag.

I have a hard time beleiving any 330/350 would beat a properly tuned 440 though. (in a straight line).

But, what does a straight line matter? If you want to drive straight buy a Banshee or LT500.

Racing requires you to turn. ;) A 330ex is a damn fine woods machine.

I agree i have 14/36 gearing and even with my 20in tires i still find myself shifting too much,im looking for a 34t now.I'm with you on the 4th gear wheelies, mine will bring up the frontend any time i wish with just a stab of the throttle no clutch.My 1st gear is pretty much useless..:D
