everything but the motor is the same and i believe the gearing in the motor is the same. only difference is the electrical on the 250x and the stroke of the motor and the kick start of course

If your asking if parts for a 300ex like A-Arms and such will work on a 250X. I'm pretty sure they can...

ok well heres the deal

i bought rims for my 250x and they were 300ex rims.
well the dont fit. 300ex
the studs on the hubs are 6 inches across. the 250x hubs are about 5

there for the bolt pattern is differnt between those two.

also i bought some nerfs 300ex style.
took me 2 hours to mount them. the were short from the footpeg. about 1/2 inches from each side. and also hit the frame.
they were also to high to mount. so i had to bend them to fit. it was hell.

and of course the egine will mount in. the only problem is the mounting the battery.

im just saying when you guys say that they are the excate same quad there not. and ill admit that i have said that too.

now my quesion is will 300ex hubs fit on there.

the 87(and maybe 88) 250x front hubs had a 4/110 bolt pattern, so that sounds like what you've got. all others and the 300ex are 4/144.

the nerf bars should fit, don't know what happened there.

the other differences are the wire harness, cdi, key switch, on/off lighting switch, and voltage regulator. also the 300ex shocks have different rate springs and valving for the extra weight, but they bolt up the same.

Wrong all 300ex wheel patterns are 4/110.

Dont feel bad I had the same problem with my nerf bars. Im using a 87 250x frame. The best thing to do with the battery is to build a air box and mount the battery in it. I lost 3 freaking batteries before I did.

It might be cheaper to change the wheel hubs. All the axle splines on hondas are the same. Atc, Trx's, and R's.

Wrong all 300ex wheel patterns are 4/110.

i'm talking about the front wheels, the 87-88's were 4/110. all other years were 4/144 and all rears are 4/110. so if he bought 300ex rims and they don't fit then he's trying to put 4/144s on 4/110 fronts.

also all axle splines are not the same on hondas. for example, the 250x/300ex rear hubs are different than 400ex hubs, and 350x hubs won't fit 250x/300ex axle.

i have a set of 400ex front hubs that will work for you...i will sell them to you for 30 shipped...they do not have the studs in though..the 400ex front hubs and wheels are the same pattern as the 300ex

If you say your front bolt pattern is 4-3/8" from bolt center to the opposite bolt center then you have the 4/110 front end. Just be sure to tell them that's what you need.

If it's 5-5/8" then you have a 4/144 front end.

ive been told that 400ex and 250R have diff. splines on the axle. so the hubs will not work.

That's correct.
The 400ex, 300ex, 250x, 450r have 24 splines.
The 250r has 25 splines.

However, I'm pretty sure his problem was up front. ;) 300ex front hubs should fit on a 250x spindle fine as far as I know.
