hot cam stage 1

when i brought my ex i was told it had a stage 1 cam in it but upon stripping the engine down for the stroker crank i noticed it still used the decomp ring is this right or is this still the standard cam
also I'm using the gt thunder 452 kit with a 12:1 piston if i got a stage 2 cam would the thing have trouble starting because of the compression

if it still has the decomp ring then you are still using the stock cam, adding a stage 2 cam will not make it start harder
