My buddy has a 1997 Yamaha Warrior. He has had is since new, and has always run great.

Up untill a few months ago.

It starts up and runs fine at idle and low throttle speeds, but as soon as you give it gas, it supperds like its going to cut off untill you left off the gas again. It only runs good at like 1/4 throttle, then spits and spudders.

We replaced:
FRESH FUEL
SPARK PLUG
OIL FILTERS IS FINE

We have removed the parking break, and the end cap out of the exhaust, but it ran ok after we did this.

It has sat for a long time so we think it could be trash in the carberator, or does this sound like a STATOR?

Any help would be great!!

WILL DO...

BUT ISNT THIS THE

"ATVriders Forums > Mechanical > Powertrain" FORM?

I FIGURED IT WAS A POWERTRAIN OR MECHANICAL PROBLEM...?

try cleaning the carb, fresh fuel as well if it sat too long, main jet could be clogged.

i have a 03 warrior and it had the same problem. I removed the side cover on the carb and found that the lever that throughs the cam lever for the accelarator pomp was out of addjustment i bent the arm that works the cam so there wasn't any gap and the lever rest on the accelarator pump. hit the throttle now and hold on.

hey man when you remove the parking brake theres a switch up there on the handle bars you will need to wire the two wires together.before you do that hold the switch in to make sure thats what it is before you cut wires.on mine i just put the piece back on that lever pulls out to lock the brake.i done the same thing.

You know, that could be it too, because we did remove the parking break around the time it started acting up....

Thats probably it because i took mine off and hopped on started it up and took off and it started sputtering so i puy the piece back on that works the button or switch. give that a try it will probably be it. good luck.
