Where are all the Michigan Riders I am calling ya'll out, I did a search in the forums & found crap for discussion on this. Just some of the one post one reply type threads. I'll get it started....

Michigan Rides - check the DNR website for ORV use trails - they have PDF's of every sanctioned riding area in the state - http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10365_15070-38330--,00.html

Now, where have I been?!?

I have been to The Bull Gap & Meadows trails near Mio which are quite nice, although there are a lot of whoops, but there is Bull Gap which is about a 150' sand hill that everyone races up. The trails are tight & sometimes challenging, lots of high banks & mixed terrain. See E on the map.

I have also been to the Atlanta trailhead, see 25 on the map. This riding area was mainly snomobile trails & wasn't that challenging although there were some neat spots where the trail went over wooden bridges.

So C'mon lets see what you Michiganders got for me!

I am venturing north in Michigan for my annual trip to Silver Lake on July 19 -20. The only other place I have ridden is on Drummond Island (not very good riding). I have always wanted to check out other trails, but I just don't want to deal with Michigan's stricter rules for noise, helments, etc. when I can head to Southern Ohio and not deal with it and still have good trails.

I have been to Silver lake also w/the old 250R, but there are over 40 sanctioned riding areas in MI listed on that map.... Someone here has to be riding them. BTW, you must wear a helmet at all times, which is a good idea anyways & the noise limit is 94db, but generally no one is going to bother you unless it is a holiday weekend or you are obnoxiously loud or not spark arrested.

I would agree that wearing a helmet is a good idea. I always wear one when riding. However, I guy in my local hunting club got a ticket by a Michigan DNR agent for riding his atv onto his trailer without a helmet. Stories like that make me feel that the Michigan DNR agents are not there to promote safety, just to make money. The 94 db rule is sorta silly at the sand dunes, but I want to ride there so I will play there game to get in. My buddy his heading up to the UP for some riding in August. Maybe I can get him to post a riding report on the trails he rides.

We have ridden the ORV trails at Lincoln Hills near Baldwin. They are pretty good if you ride them early in the season. Otherwise they get beat up pretty bad. Lots of whoops. We rode this weekend on some trails just north of Cadillac. Missaukee trail and North Missaukee trail. They both were pretty good trails. They were real tight and pretty challenging. A couple of hills but nothing too tough. The hardest thing about the hills was that the trails were so tight and the trail would curve half way up and go between trees that the quad would barely fit through. So it made it more challenging. There were several places that I had to find an alternate route to get through. The North Missaukee trail has a ton of trails. We only rode about 25 miles or so but there is supposedly 75 miles of trails. We will probably go back and ride again some time. We ride mostly up North but a friend of mine said there are some good trails in Muskegon some where. It is mostly dirt bikes but he said that there have been quads that ride there also. Just wanted to let everyone know where we ride mostly.

i have ridden at the mounds in flint and they are pretty muddy but a good place to go if you dont want to go all the way up north, and we have bean to siver lake and bull gap. bull gap was good for the most part with some good trails that are wide and you can go fast on but some that are tight and really woopy. we have a cabin up near cadalc and we have also ridden on lincon hills and we think that is good spot. it connects to a bigger trail called manistee and that is wide enoph for a truck but is always too woopy to ride on. tin cup is also in that area and that is a good spot. my friend went to drummon island and said he liked it. did any of you ride there and how was it?? and has anyone bean to the UP or the black lake . i now that they got an orv like bull gap i want to now what that place is like. here are some web sights with trail maps.
