Welp I figure I'll post this in here, I started with a banshee that was to say the least hurt! The motor was blown, frame was tweaked, every bearing was trash and seals. Rust was taking over the exhaust and misc pieces. I never expected it to be as bad as it was, But I pushed on and looked around for ideas on a build.

Here she is the first night I got it, It was rough to say the least..

:eek2:

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 12:54 PM
Just a little dirty guys!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 12:54 PM
It doesnt look that bad from a distance eh haha..

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 12:55 PM
When I saw this wheel they gave me I was in shock, I figured the frame was a little tweaked, they told me they barley tapped a wall with it so I figured ah what the hell till I saw that wheel in the back of the truck!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 12:56 PM
One plus about the bike, allready had fmfs on it. Saved me alot of money to fix everything else :p

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:00 PM

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:01 PM
She was going to need some fixin!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:02 PM
It was colder then all hell out there, Iced over bolts wasnt exactly the best situation for me to try and strip this thing!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:02 PM
I had to result to using a hair dryer to melt the ice on the bolts haha

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:03 PM
:scary:

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:04 PM
It was so damn cold!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:05 PM
I couldnt belive how bad of shape it was in, everything I took apart almost fell apart :(

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:06 PM
Took me awhile to get the handle bars off, they were a little frozen on there :eek2:

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:07 PM
I hope the neighbor didnt mind the banshee taking a leak in the yard  :macho

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:07 PM
It was time consuming trying to strip this thing in the cold!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:08 PM
Ah, finally someone to come help me!

Sportrax10 decided to stop by and lend a hand!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:09 PM

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:10 PM

The heart of the Beast, she was sent out to B+B for a little more juice then me and pops worked on her a little :scary:

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:13 PM
Any one remeber those old nasty fmfs that were on it!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:14 PM
I worked my magic on them to say the least!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:14 PM
The motor was too dull too! so I polished her up just a tad

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:15 PM
I have a polishing how to thread in the body section, do a search and you can learn how to polish as well!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:16 PM

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:18 PM
Them sparks were gettin' to close to my feet! :eek2:

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:19 PM

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:19 PM

Mxjunkie

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:25 PM
We cut and fit the tubes.

dont mind the crooked one, I stubbed my toe on the box the frame was sittin on

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:26 PM
I sat there and looked at it and wondered if it was ever going to look decent.

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:26 PM

Mxjunkie

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:37 PM
so close yet so far..

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:38 PM
I never would of expected it to look like this!!!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:39 PM
After some issues with a door that wouldnt open pop's and I finally just said f-it and used some anger :p

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:40 PM
I never would of expected to have a quad like this, I use to race but I switched to bikes and I didnt dig it. Pops told me if I got a job I could trade my cr80 for a shee so I did it and worked every day expect weekends for 6 months almost.

My plan was to build a xc banshee but on my budget. I liked how it turned out.

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:41 PM
Then.... Off to B+B for some more stuff

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:42 PM
I got it home and finally rode it for the first time EVER, I never rode a banshee before and I made a big mistake of working the motor haha. Scared me pooless!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:43 PM
I was extreamly impressed in how well it rode and felt! It wasnt anything people say

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:43 PM
The overall power was intense! It has awesome low end for a 2 stroke and the mid-top is like nothing I've ever ridden.

icecold_shee
01-07-2006, 01:45 PM
dude, thats a sweet as rebuild, props to ya, now your makin me regret turnin down a runnin banshee on a trade that would have made a perfect candidate for a rebuild like that,
heres a pic of my shee

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:45 PM
I went to the Atvriders.com Rausch Creek ride in Tremont PA. I didnt expect to go out and do all to well on the mx tracks, boy was I wrong!

The banshee handled anything I threw at it, the stock shocks were limiting my casing skills specially when I cased the hell out of the tripple Rausch had :o :eek2:

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:46 PM
After the Rausch ride I knew I HAD to get suspension, I blew both the front shocks in 2 days of non stop mx!

I have to tell you guys, I was on it for the 2 days I was there, Peoples quads were breaking left and right. Mine stayed togather and didnt miss a beat!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:49 PM
After Rausch I wanted to build a mx banshee so my banshee took a turn towards race cuts and some other misc mods, then I came to my senses and went back to my xc roots :p

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:50 PM
For christmas I had my dad buy me rears and I bought the front plastics.

Maiers product is amazing it bolted right up!

As you can see I am now running yfz shocks in the front!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:51 PM
My banshee never seems to let me down! I love it and without a doubt I am a banshee fan at heart now!

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 01:53 PM
Let this build make you guys learn a little lesson, No matter how bad or how run down something is, theres a little something that makes it worth something to someone. I was really jelous of all my friends with brand new 450rs, it hurt my feelings in a way when I went to ride with them and they are like why are you riding a cr80 still, it was all we could afford at the time. I went out and got a fulltime job doing autobody under the table to pay for the banshee and I made the quad how I wanted it to be.

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 02:05 PM
Me back in the ol' days when I had that cr80

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 02:06 PM
Now on the banshee, I have to say I'm very well pleased

QuadRacer18
01-07-2006, 02:36 PM

01-07-2006, 02:47 PM
man, you should be really proud of yourself, you did an incredible job on that banshee!!!, i always liked it, but im in love with it after ive seen what it looked like before! cant wait to see what you do to it in the future!

good work! "applauds" :D

(btw, the silver looks 10x better than the white)

Mxjunkie
01-07-2006, 03:00 PM
I orginally wanted to do it silver because my dads harley is the mitone burgundy and gray with gold leaf, its a limted eddtion of only 250 of each model. :D Its kinda cool that they match sorta haha

450robot
01-07-2006, 03:05 PM
i forgot to add to, you have some balls taking that whole thing apart out in the snow! geese! i think my garage is to cold to work in, in the winter. i couldnt imagine doing it outside!

(wouldnt it have been easier to take it in the house by taking off the door in the first place? hahaha)

ZeroLogic
01-07-2006, 03:25 PM
Thats was awsome, your one of the few kids who actually work for their quads and don't get everything handed to them. Really nice job.:macho

01-07-2006, 11:50 PM

just amazing! Hey man, i kinda want to do some work to my blaster, my dad came home one day in like august with my baby in his truck, he picked it up for like $300 after reasoning with the guy, that night we stripped the engine and found out the guy had blown the piston, after like 3 or so weekends of work and $500 later, we had a decent bike, i love riding it and i hope after some more work it can look half as decent as yours! congrats on you hard work and amazing bike!

Thank You,

I think that is cool that he is riding a Banshee for MX/XC. Yeah, you don't see much of them but it takes a more skilled rider to keep in the powerband of the Banshee and race MX. It is easier to chug around on a four stroke but it takes real nuts to do it on a two stroke:devil:
