After 6 months of healing i was told by a Dr. that i was still in non union ( meaning broke in 2). He is going to put a plate in for me, has anyone else got the plate and how long were u down for?

Yes! ;)

After breaking 6 more bones riding my quad last year at the tender age of 39, I've found things just don't heal as well as I get older... :(

Exercise, 4-6 Alleve a day and a lot of gritting my teeth gets me through. :p

I broke mine in the summer 03. Five breaks. It took a plate and eight screws it fix. It only hurts when I try to sleep on that side. I was completely healed in three months. My son broke his two days after Christmas. It was one clean break. He's in a figure eight brace & a sling. They told him he would be good to go in five weeks.

mine was broken, and the gap from tip to tip of the break was an inch and 3/4 it sucked cuz if i moved my arm forward, the bone sticking up toward the back would pock the skin, but i had to wait 2 weeks to see if them would draw back together but they didn't b/c the muscle inbetween, after i got the plate, it was about 3 weeks, and i was doin every thing again, and riding , bout they say 6 weeks before so the extra bone build can build up

i broke mine ridin and went to the first day of football practice that night (i was still in midgets) and then the next day i threw horse shoes all day and then practiced again and when i couldnt do pushups or anything that involved putting stress on it my dad made me go to the doctor and they said it was broken, but i only sat out 2 weeks and then they let me suit and i didnt even miss a game

i rode the next day, it didn't bother me intill i would to hit bumps and quick jerks, b/c i could feel the bone pushing through, i was hittin a 30 ft tabletop with it sticking up, the x rays showed it was abit worse when i came back 2weeks later than the first one, i think it was stupid after all of it, but one thing, u need to let everyone knoe not to grab ur shoulder anymore at all, it hurts so bad where the bone surfaces, it's been almost 2 years , and it still burns like hell when someone squises that shoulder

I hear you guys on the slow healing. I'm only 30.. but as slow as stuff heals now, I can imagine how much slower stuff will heal at 35+.

I have been lucky enough not to break my colar bone. However I did rip the think completely loose, lol. Complete seperation when I was 26. Tore all 3 ligaments completely in half.

Worst part of the whole thing, is having to sleep in the same exact position without moving for like 3 weeks. OMG, talk about pain! You dont realize how important moving in your sleep is until you can't, lol.
