I've never dealt with Sidi, But Gaerne's are flat out awsome.

Take a look at This (http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=200942) thread. I went into detail on Gaerne boots, maybe you can get some convicing info from that.;)

I've never tried Gaerne but I've tried on the Sidi boots and was amazed at how light they are especially compared to my Tech 8's. Another boot very similar in design to these two are the ARC boot from Rockymountainatv.com check them out too, it seems like they would be the boot to get pricewise.
