It's normal. I think the fix is a bigger pilot jet.

I have tried everything to get my head pipe on my 04 450r to stop glowing red and the only thing that made it stop glowing is shutting off the motor......Well thats not a option!!

Mine does its normal dont worry about it. I love going for night rides and being able to see it glowing when theres no other lights around. My friend lit a cig off of it because he forgot his lighter.

my 04 did the same thing.went up with pilot jet 1 size and it's fine now.red is usually lean, which could burn a hole in the piston.plus it runs better with jet size increase.

complete difference of opinion with glowing headers.

I dyno tune with A/F sensing and never get a glowing header condition if dial'd in correctly.

thinned walled headers causing glowing headers? heard that and don't agree that HONDA is interested in releasing a public safety hazard with glowing headers. Safety regulations would restrict that.

a lean condition causes hotter gasses. try cooling it more with a bit more fuel.

Its my friends 4wheeler, check this out if you haven't already, no he doesn't have the heat sheild on, if I were to get it, that would be the first thing to put back on.
