well first of all i love to hill climb. but what are some things that you can do to help your 450r out with hillclimbing. i know a longer swing arm with help with a shock you shock set up the way you want it. yea i also know you want to have power of course but everyone knows that. so what are some other things you can do to your 4 wheeler.

Holeshot H-D's work great lots of traction. Keeps the tires about a foot off the ground the whole way up.

I dropped a tooth on my 400 ex and have hit some nasty hills in 2nd all the way up. Just keep er' pinned and lean over the bars and hope to heck you make it up!!!

just get rolling and dump second gear,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,let'er eat............but when in dought roll over them not power.........momentum is the key to good hills...............tires only matter if you need more traction ................but this can cause roll over or spinning out...............................just enough power to keep your Rev's up..........not too much

I have a set of Kenda Knarly tires and they get good traction climbing hills. I dont get so much traction that the front end rares up but i have not ever got stuck.

it is not the quad that matters, it is the person riding the quad but good tires would help u a lot. i put razrs on my 250ex and they are sooo much better than the crappy stock tires it comes with

Lol I dropped a tooth, and was climbing a hill in second with no run to it, so I started bogging down at the steepest part, and started going to the right, so I cut hard to the left and just pinned it...... Let me tell you it was awesome, but scarry at the same time....... People always say go up tough hills in first, thats to hard so I always hit em in second...... Oh ya me and one other person were the only ones to climb that hill, and he did it in first.

But get some razr2's and drop a tooth, works great for me.

it has everything to do with the quad.. I drive a 300ex and some of the hills i ride up are too steep and long... 3rd isnt enough power and 2nd is to slow.... too much traction on hills can be bad to... I was riding a hill with loose dirt and i had it pegged and when i hit a hard spot the quad pulled a wheelie real quick... this is why mud sharks have a little to much traction... there great when its a little wet out though... i think quads need to slide a bit.

i said it meaning a person that knows what their doing will be better off than a person that doesnt know what their doing but yeah, the quad does matter. i have a 250ex. i steer clear of the hills i know my quad cant physically handle. i know how to ride some of them but a 250ex cant make it up them. dont want to hurt anything on my baby. you know what i mean?

i jumped into this thread a little late but in my opinion quad and rider is 50/50.....you have to have a little bit of both.......you have to have a good rider and quad in my opinion because i have seen some not so good riders on nice bikes and good riders on not so good bikes just burn up the novices.......i also just wanted to say i am a firm beleiver in kenda xc's ran backwards.....they do wonders.....

dorp a tooth up front, i dropped a tooth up front and i can make it up almost any hill in 2nd gear easily, and i can just motor up hills in 1st at like 1/2-3/4 throttle easily
i have no probs gettin up hills, its just gettin the cajones to do it sometimes
